The staff is excellent. Because we were there in a less busy season and had stayed several times before, we were upgraded to a suite. They also allowed a family to have a Christmas meal with other relatives in the breakfast area. When we asked what restaurants would be open Christmas Eve and Day, they made inquires and had copies for guests. It would be nice if the pool was warmer. Temperatures were too low outside to want to swim in a cool pool. The hot tube was large and heated. The breakfast is pretty standard and does not include much of a protein choice except yogurt and milk.

Negative items: The sheets would not stay on the bed which was very annoying. The hotel is about 10 miles from the airport but it felt like we were at the end of the runway because the A/C was so loud. It cut on about every 30 minutes throughout the night. Ran out of toliet paper and no extra roll in the room. Two towels for the family suite? Security lock on the door was broken off. The free breakfast area was way too small. I ended up eating breakfast out instead of waiting in line 10-15 minutes on a waffle. There were two waffle makers but only one worked. On the positive side it is only 5 miles from Wrightsville Beach. 15 minutes from downtown Wilmington and US North Carolina battleship. It is close to shopping and nice resturants. It was clean, but I expected more out of Marriot.
