Cottage Grove Resort & Campground, Alexandria

Cottage Grove Resort is a great place to go. My family has been coming the resort since before I was born. I look forward to summers going to the lake all year. They have an amazing beach that is great for my young daughter. She can enjoying playing in the water or in the sand and I don't worry because the beach is shallow and there are no sharp drop offs. The lodge is always a fun place to grab a pop or some forgotten supplies. I love that you are close enough to town if you want to run in and grab a meal or need to shop, but at the same time feel like you are at the cabin. The people are all very friendly and helpful. The cabins are a great value and right on on the water. If you're looking for a five star resort this is not it, but if you're looking for a comfortable, fun and safe vacations spot for your family, this is it.

They double booked the cabin we had reserved. They told my partner that there was another family who regularly booked the same cabin on the same week and that family took priority. We were not given this information until that day. Our family was a thousand miles from home. They then offered us a one room (not bedroom) cabin for the following night, again for my family of five. This left us without housing for one night. We went to a hotel and were able to get a room because of there had been a cancellation. We lost or had to give away a great deal of food we had purchased for the weeks stay as well as the added expense of having to eat out. They called around to a few places then just said they were sorry and handed our deposit back. They did not offer to pay for any additional expense brought on by there mistake. Because of their negligence we ended up having to cut our vacation short. It was difficult to explain this to our three young daughters who had been looking forward to the vacation for months. Very, very, very disappointed in the Cottage Grove Resort experience.

We had a very enjoyable time at this resort. The people were very friendly and helpful with information about the area and the lake. There are quite a few dogs at the camper sites, but they are not running loose. Furthermore, all of the people we saw walking their dogs were carrying plastic bags to clean up right away. It was great to find a vacation spot at a good value with a nice lake view and a relaxing atmosphere. It's also nice to be able to bring your pet along with you if you so choose. The owners believe that pets are also family members. If you want to relax, have fun, sit by a campfire, go fishing or swimming or just pop up to the lodge for pizza and a beer, this could be for you! If you want plush and spacious with a spa and all the trimmings at a cost of $200.00-$300.00 a day, then keep looking.
