This is our second year staying at Fish and Fry and we will definately be back! We love the location, the little stream that runs through the campground, the roomy sites, the shade, the store and the restaurant, and the owners Gary and Michelle are so friendly! Their staff is so helpful, bringing ice and fire wood to our site. The bath houses are clean and conviently located. We did not do the internet connection but will bring our computer along next year and do that...very reasonable. We stayed during the Sturgis bike rally and the place was very busy but everyone there still took time to made sure our stay was great. Nice people, nice campground. Loved it!! See you next year!
Internet descriptions misleading, were promised certain site, couldn't get it because someone overstayed, wouldn't give refund. Given another campsite nearby, but sites so close together couldn't use canopy or slideouts. Wifi was an extra 3.00 a day or 8.00 for 3 days, which is ridiculous! Pool was a joke, only 3 and a half foot deep, and showers were .25 for 7 minutes! We were given another site, but we were still on top of each other, and sewer was uphill. Fishing was out because it is .70 cents per inch for each fish, that can add up quick, and you can't throw them back. The store does not have everything and anything, and prices are tripled. No room to park your vehicle after you park your camper, people are parking on top of your campsite. Not recommended for more than a day or two. Buyer beware, check it out before you commit, because they do not give refunds. If we stay in the Black Hills in the future, it will NOT be here.
Along trip there camp site was so close to other campers could not slide out tip outs, couldnt roll out canopy. We asked for a refund but would not give it, we moved to another site and was ok but was hard to empty out black water and grey water because the sewer pipe was up hill all the camp sites are so close together you can hear people talking in there campers. it is ok for 1 or 2 nights but not recomended for a long stay. We had to finish a week long stay cause they would not refund money. Word of caution check it all out before you pay them. The resturant is not recomended looks like a dog kennel and smells the same way. Just ones opinion and i looked at reviews before going i like to make my own assesments you do the same just be aware if possible to get another place to camp it is strongly recomended.
Stayed there summer of 09, the new owners Gary and Michele were excellent hosts! Very fun and friendly. Campground was exceptionally clean. We had an absolute blast and acces to all major black hills attractions was perfect. I would highly recommend this campground!!
This is a really great campground...espicially for a family type vacation. The place is clean the owners are friendly and even hang out which is kinda cool...there is a store that has anything and everything...it just had a very warm friendly atmosphere, john and kelly do a very nice job.
Sadly, the Fish 'N Fry Campground is not only located on the busiest highway in the Black Hills, but the owners are not very nice people. On two different occasions I witnessed the guy who ran the place yelling at random kids. Just an all around angry guy. His wife was nice, but she was too busy to help out with customers.
There were several other campgrounds located nearby that were much quieter, located off the highway, and nicer hosts. Wild Bill's Campground is less than a 1/4 mile, and Whispering Pines Campground is approximately 15 miles in the direction of Hill City. I would highly recommend them over Fish 'N Fry.
The Fish 'n Fry was a great vacation. We passed through and planned to just stayed the night but ended up staying a week and a half. Never did make it to Yellowstone! It was a nice place, that was family owned, and family friendly. The store had cold beer, food, and they had enough activities that the kids would run around all day and come back exausted. Highly, Highly recomended.
