Scottish Inns Albany, Albany

I checked a number of sites to get an idea of what this particular hotel was like and the amenities offered. The room amenities list features like microwave, refrigerator, hairdryer, ironing board and iron, etc. I made my reservation and my confirmation showed exactly what I'd asked for - smoking room, double bed, microwave, refrigerator, etc. When we arrived and had completed the check in process, we went to our room and were quite astounded. The only thing that was there as described was the hair dryer! No ashtray, no microwave/refrigerator, nothing. Couldn't even get the size of the bed right - it was a king. In further checking the room, discovered there was trash in the dresser drawers (soda bottles, cans, papers) and no toilet paper or tissues in the bathroom! Called the desk to discuss this and was informed that the amenities are only for specific rooms. That is not what the ads claim! They switched our room (nice) and it still wasn't decent. Still no toilet paper, no ashtray, no tissues. Had to call and request those. Carpets are stained and dirty, holes in the walls have been patched over poorly and never repainted. Airconditioner only worked intermittently, curtains didn't close fully (leaving room open to casual viewers), etc. It has got to be one of the worst places I've ever stayed in.
