low budget place to crash
The price is affordable and the location is great as it is right next to the green line and major bus routes. The staff is very nice. There gym and common spaces are generally nice. The lobby is impressive. There is evidence of all the things the Y does here -- a big gym, lots of space with kids in after school, camp, teen drop-in and toddler care. The corporate offices for the area are here too, as well as a chapel. All in all, there is a huge variety of people with many purposes apparent in the common spaces. The rooms are basic, cheap and have common bathrooms. The re are folks staying here who are on hard times in Boston. There are students who lease rooms during the school year. In the summer there are more tourists from all over mixed in. If you have a conversation with any of the staff, you will know it's about making sure folks are safe, taking care of what's urgent and having a good heart.
