Edgewood Manor Inn and Hotel, Providence

This inn was immaculate and perhaps the best place we have stayed in the Providence area. WE look forward to returning to this under priced an overvalued spectacular place they call Edgewood Manor Thanks for the lovely stay

WE were visiting our daughter at Brown University and decided to give Edgewood Manor Inn a try and were pleasantly surprised. We had called around to a few other inns around town and were not impressed for one reason or another so we decided on Edgewood. When we arrived we were greeted so nicely by the innkeeper Ken and his wife Pam who live on premises. The fireplace was roaring with a wonderful fire and their help with our luggage was great since we had a third floor room and there is no elevator. The inn was completely beautiful both inside and out. It was so nice to see that the entire first floor maintained the original sitting rooms , it was so nice to curl up with a book and read after dinner. The room we chose was luxurious the palladian room. I guess the only drawback it had a shower only but for my husband it was perfect he never soaks but for me I prefer a soak when I travel but next time I will get one with a tub as well as shower. The breakfast was great the next two mornings prepared by Chef Joy. Her apple cinnamon crisp bread/cake was delicious and I asked for the recipe . The stay was truly wonderful we look forward to staying again soon.

The Edgewood Manor was the best inn we have ever stayed in and we have been to many. The inn was located near Roger Williams Park and we loved running along the lake and the ocean the next. We loved the beautiful gardens, awesome architecture,and loved the scrumptious breakfasts. This is a must stay when visiting providence! We will return in the fall to visit our son in college.

So Newport has the Breakers,The elms and the marble house ,but Providence has Edgewood Manor INN . Maybe it is not as large square footage wise but architectual splendor wise it is right up there. This Historic property was immaculate and just amazing in detail. The formal dining room was all quarter sawn oak with painted beams on the ceilings and a beautiful tapestry adorned the top of the walls to the ceiling. The inn was appointed perfectly with beautiful antiques and comfortable funishings. The room we stayed in was the victorian room wich was lovley and had a fireplace . It would have been nice to have stayed in the winter so we could use it. The breakfast was very tasty we had the bannanna pancakes and the eggs florentine looked good as well. Our only regret was that we didnt book longer because it was a great central location for all of our little day trips as we found out. Being a first timer to this area we found out how close everything really is. Providence RI itself is a beauty of a little city and kept very nicely. Newport was great as well. But the best was our stay at Edgewood Manor INN.

The Edgewood Manor Inn was the perfect blend of modern amenities like bathrooms and historic charm and splendor. WE really loved Edgewood Manor the entire stay was just lovely. The grounds were beautiful and the gardens were outstanding. The breakfast was delicious with fresh fruit and herbs from their gardens . I loved Joys omelettes truly amazing stuff. This is Providence's best kept secret.......

We loved the inn Edgewood Manor . We have stayed at some of the inns in town and they just can't compare . The Edgewood Manor first of all is in a great location near Roger Williams Park and the Botanical Gardens . We visited both when we were there. Its an easy stroll down beautiful norwood ave and right into the Park. Let me first say the architecture of the Edgewood Manor is truly amazing. Each room on the first floor is uniquely different so the foyer when you walk in has an amazing ceiling with all hand carved wood and a beautiful fireplace which was going when we arrived. The formal dining room though was our favourite room, with hand carved oak from floor to just about ceiling and the flloor was all tile a special tile Grueby which was beautiful. Eating breakfast in this room made me feel like we were in a castle in England . The library was lovely that is where we had a" spot of tea" you might say. There was a roaring fire going in that room as well. Can you say ambiance WE sat there for a few hours talking with other guests losing track of time and enjoyed every minute of it. The room we stayed in well- it had a jacuzzi and all marble bathroom and was super clean,it also had a large gothic king size bed with a small cleverly disquised refridgerator endtable(great for storing) large dinner leftovers from Providences awesome restaurants and other snacks and drinks. The name of the room was the carrerra it was on the third floor just wish there was an elevator. Great Mansion Great stay,and we will return.....

The Edgewood Manor INN was fantastic. The antiques and original character of the entire inn was truly amazing. The service was excellent and the restaurant Basta around the corner was scrumtious but that is for another review. Our breakfast prepared by Joy was lovely with a fresh fruit cup prior to the main course of stuffed french toast and egss florentine. Joys blueberry corn muffins are enough to make you return to Edgewood Manor . The location was great closee to Roger Williams Park a nice victorian park that was well preserved . Parking was a plus here we have stayed at some inns where parking is tight and down right insufficient especially in Providence.

We've stayed at the Edgewood Manor a few times but this time, we stayed next door at the Newhall House. Andy (the owner) was super nice and greeted us like we were old friends. Andy met us in Edgewood Manor and walked us over to Newhall House. We stayed in the Elms Suite. When I opened the door to the room, my jaw dropped. It was BIG! There's a hallway in the suite with two separate bedrooms and a large bathroom. The bedrooms have high, period beds (there really needs to be a step stool in the rooms!) The bathroom has a shower stall and a jetted tub. It was so relaxing! Breakfast the next morning was unbelievable. We started with freshly baked blueberry muffins. Then, we were offered fruit cups. After that course came eggs, bacon, and pancakes (mine were banana but you had a choice.) So yummy! Plus, all the coffee/tea/juice that you could ever want. There's also a cereal bar (which is nice for children.) My son is a super picky eater but he ate the pancakes that Joy made for him. Success! Joy (the chef) was pleasant and added some humor to our breakfast. Sitting in the gorgeous dining room and chatting with other guests added to the whole ambiance. I felt like royalty (Downton Abbey, anyone?) We will definitely stay again. I do prefer to be in the main house so that I can have a cup of tea in the lovely sitting area near the fireplace in the evening. I highly recommend the Edgewood Manor B&B.

This was truly a majestic inn with beautiful appointments. I loved the original music room (just wish they had a piano in there) it would have been a magical thing. The scarlets retreat was lovely with a wood burning fireplace that was so cozy. The bed was fantastic and quite comfortable. We had a great nights sleep. The next morning we awoke to the smell of Joys cooking which was delicious. We dined in the formal dining room (which felt like a castle) . Joy made some great blueberry corn muffins which came fresh out of the oven. Next came the main course of eggs florentine .Can you say yummy... We loved everything about Edgewood Manor. The innkeeper gave us some great dinner advice and we had a lovely dinner close to the inn. The inn was close to Roger Williamd Park and Zoo and the Botanical Gardens which was open in the winter so we checked them both out . It was a really nice trip and we enjoyed everything we hope to return soon.

The Edgewood Manor INN was a great choice . First let me say we have been to them all in the providence area and none campare to Edgewood Manor. Our daughter is a RISD and this is her junior year after having stayed in other accomodations we were fortunate enough to find this lovely historic inn called Edgewood Manor . The location was good just 3 miles fromn the schools campus and jujst an easy drive . The rooms at Edgewood Manor were spectacular, clean ,fresh and beautifully appointed. We stayed in the victorian room it had a fireplace(real wood ) what a nice touch to have these days. The breakfast was absolutely wonderful (Jo)y was really awesome we had some special dietary needs we she took care of in a jiffy. The innkeeper Ellie she was right on about the restaurants and gave us some great itinerary to check out the areas of Rhode Island that we have not seen on our previous visits. All in all This Place is Proividence's best kept secret although it is hardly a secret the3 inn was jammed out and we were happy that we got a room. We already booked for thanksgiving time again and will be staying here for the next year or so.
