This place was a disappointment. When we showed to check in we were stuck waiting outside the office for a good 20 minutes because no one was there.
The room has NO A/C. For a place that people frequent in the summer, no A/C is a problem. The bathroom was gross, the toilet made loud running noises that could wake the dead, and the cherry on top was the mushroom I found growing out the wall next to the shower. I'm not joking, a MUSHROOM was growing in our bathroom. I can't think of anything more vile.
The bed also killed my back, and I'm 22 years old, young and able.
Don't stay here, there are plenty of other places just as close to town that are sanitary.
This is the worst hotel/motel I have ever stayed at. From moment of check in Darlene the manager was unfriendly and rude. While we were waiting to check out she was yelling at future customers on the phone. She acted as you were inconvenincing her by staying there. the rooms are filthy. The guests next door however were the highlight of our stay since we were able to discuss how appaled we were with this place. I am not one to write reviews but I felt so strongly about how awful this place is and how falsely it is advertised that I found it necessary to make an exception.
This place is away from all others which made my stay laid back and peaceful.Price is comparable for this time of year. Room was comfortable but had small bathroom. The manager was very helpful.Steps away from the beach and you can walk into town.
It has been a good location for us to spend time with your family, and you are literally a few yards away from the beach. I love the weather there too. This is our third year there and we are making plans to take other members of our family and come back next year again.
It is definitely not a multi star hotel, but the people are very nice and accommodating. Owner renovates and makes a little improvement every year. I think it’s only going to get better.
See you there!
Dont go by the pictures you see on their website. The place was a disaster. The room smelled, you can hear EVERYTHING going on in the room next to yours, mice in the walls, paper towels stuffed inside the broken tiles in the bathroom, crappiest shower ever, and the door was not secure at all. Would not reccomend this place to my worst enemy. Thank god we only booked it for one night. If it wasnt so cold out we would have slept in our car that is how bad this place was. I've never been more skeeved out in my whole life. I've stayed at the Royal Atlantic numerous times & that place blows this place away. For all the money they get for these places in & off season you would think they could do a little bit better for their customers. Oh & the chairs in the rooms are stained.....GROSS !!! I didnt even want to put my suitcase down in the room. If we ever stay at another place in Montauk besides the Royal Atlantic we'll be sure to check out the place in person before we stay anywhere else again. This place was a total dump !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First off, this place is not ADA compliant by a long shot. Who did they pay off?
The bathroom was disgusting. The toilet was half the normal size and if you used it both of your cheeks were against the walls. The shower was moldy and filthy. The soap dish was mounted to a piece of plywood with silicon sealant peeling off. The fixtures were old and pitted. There was a gaping hole in the tile under the sink. The water had a real funky taste when brushing your teeth.
The bed was so mushy, we had backaches when we woke up. The linen was old and threadbare. The chairs needed serious shampooing they were so filthy.
The ceiling light and several outlets did not work.
There were no handrails on the stairs going to the second floor. You did have a great view of the sand dunes.
We stayed at other hotels for much less money and had breakfast included. This place gave you nothing.
The office smelled of bird droppings from a large bird that was there.
First off this place is not ADA compliant. The bathroom was a closet and if had had to use the teacup sized toilet, the walls would be touching your sides. The shower needed major work, cracks in the tiles and Twiggy would find it tight. The bathroom floor was not even. The chairs needed major cleaning and the arm rests were filthy. The TV was barely basic cable. The bed was so mushy we both woke up with back aches.
We travel a lot and the hotels that we stayed at for much less money gave a free breakfast. This place gave nothing.
You could not brush your teeth for the water had a real funky taste.
I am sorry that we stayed here and will never go here again.
my husband and i have stayed here several times in the lase 10 years. We have tried other places which we also liked but we seem to come back here. It's in walking distance to town, right on the beach. They re-did the rooms and got new beds. The staff are very nice and helpful. We stay on the upper level with the view of the ocean. You can build a fire on the beach, at that time of the year and at night, you can see several of them burning with people just enjoying themselves. We love it and will continue to come back. We don't need a fancy place . It is clean rooms are nice queen size bed over looking the ocean, try it!!! You'll like it!!!!!!!
i know montauk very well, and generally speaking, if you have a car, there are much better places for much better value. On the other hand, if you don't have a car, this place is in a great spot, walkable to any place in town, yet not in the center of the chaos (yes, montauk can be chaos in august)
very accomodating; friendly people...
ask for the pass to local "surfing" beach!!!
great shopping and food, you forget that you are in long island, felt like I was far away from home (when I was actually just a couple of hours away).
