I've left a review on here before, and I'm not sure who the people are who leave these "GREAT" positive reviews (I can only imagine they are the people who work there, or the owners themselves?) This place was awful, and the owner and son are absolutely out of their minds, not to mention EXTREMELY nasty. I'm not going to bore you with my story again, rather check out the Better Business Bureau's website (they gave them a rating of "F" and revoked their accreditation in January of 2009). That says it all. Find a new hobby Mr. Fake Positive Review, or get something more to back up your ridiculous claims.

We spent the weekend at the Jim Thorpe Camping resort... what ever that guys problem is with the owner is personal!! He was kind and gave us a ride because our car broke down and let us use his truck the next day to go to the store in town ... tell your friends .. great place to stay and people are friendly.... That guy must be from MARS or an IDIOT !!!

Thanks for the reviews everyone. After reading all these comments I felt confident with my decision for taking my family to Goss Hawk which was great! Management was very kind and accommodating and the campgrounds were well kept. I felt more secure in my choice when I started talking to another camper who comes to Jim Thorpe occasionally and told me he went to JTCR the first time he came and never again will he go back. He told me about his stay there and how the management is; which is pretty much just like how all you have described it. Thanks again everyone!

dent head and his cartoon character look-a-like son(ned flanders) are rude, greedy and total assholes. i hope someday a person puts him in his place and puts an end to this communism. leave your radios at home or bring ear- phones with you because quiet hour is all day. hope you don't need any help from management for any unforeseen reason cause you won't get it there. i traveled from philadelphia(2hours) to go to jail for the weekend. Stay away! would never invest in a permanent site there

everything from the moment we drove in was just horrible. the sites were sooo small, the pool was nasty, the owner and manager were not willing to help out at all. in fact when we asked for some help they told us we shouldnt be camping and if we wanted to leave it would be fine. so we left without a refund and found Goss Hawk on our gps. the campground is now called Stoneybrook Estates or Campground (5703864088). IT WAS AWSOME! the view, the new club house with a new deck overlooking the pool, and not to mention the owner was a young guy that was very helpful and very nice. their store and that is still closed for construction but the sites are HUGE! much better than jim thorpe, it was worth leaving without a refund to find a beautiful campground. Jim Thorpe didn’t even give us the site we reserved! What a rip off! Im so glad we left…

I really wish I had found this site before I wasted my week off going to this place. I used to live up in Lehighton and have fond memories of the Jim Thorpe area from when I was a young boy. Now I've got a wife and a son of my own and I wanted to take him on a camping trip to the place where I grew up. Well, I was teaching my son how to make a fire with the local classic rock station on (this was at 7:30pm I should mention, well before the 11pm quiet time) and the manager came up and told us we were being disruptive. After turning it down to his satisfaction, he came back 10 minutes later and started screaming about the radio. I hadn't touched the dial, none of us had. I told him that and then asked what he considers quiet time if you can't even have the radio at minimum volume during non quiet hours. He stated that he is the law there and began cursing at us and telling us we had to leave. When I told him I wasn't leaving without a refund because I had paid for the whole week (this was the first night) he told me "Tough Sh*t". I've never been so disgusted or met such an ass in my entire life. I'm willing to bet the one person who gave this campsite a positive review works for the place... because I'm siding with the other twenty some reviews.....DO NOT CAMP HERE!

seriously, this guy is nucking futs. from reading other reviews here, it seems like it is standard policy for this guy to kick people out for no good reason.

It took my group a total of 30 minutes to get kicked out of the place. And what did we do? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. He accused us of 'cursing' and being loud - when the contract specifically stated that quiet time is after 11pm. It was 10:30. At first, the Father of the family owned place walks up in a belligerent manner asking us the rhetorical question "If we talk this way at home." Being as we are older than he thought and either own or rent our own homes, we answered "Yes." He didn't even identify himself as the owner of the campsite... He probably thought we were a bunch of 18 year old kids or something which we are much older... Right after that he said - well go ahead and go home and you can talk that way all you want, pack your stuff or I will have you arrested. We were completely dumbfounded... So we said we will keep it down and we are sorry. After he walked away, we made a comment about how ignorant and rude that was, then the SON of the owner (Middle aged guy that looks and sounds like Ned Flanders) came up and told us he didn't appreciate us making fun of his father that way and again threatened to have us arrested. So he calls the cops (which we are glad, so we have a witness to get our money back, or take him to court proving that nothing was damaged and we didn't break the contract either) and the cops were super nice, because they apparently know these people have nothing better to do and kick people out for no reason all the time... We made the cops come look at the place so we have a witness that everything was fine when we left. Then he tried to keep all of our money, and when we threatened to take him to court he said we would only be charged for the evening. He apparently knows that this amount isn't worth coming back to that Podunk town for a trial but gets us out of almost 100 bux nonetheless. You can't even cook on an open fire there - what kind of camping is that? Everyone in Jim Thorpe seemed to be ignorant and unwelcoming probably because they are tired of the tourism... Well I got news for those rednecks - we bring the money to your town and keep its economy going - if you don't like it then move somewhere even more insignificant. We found another campground called that used to be called Goss Hawks - but it's under new ownership right off of Germans road. This place was amazing, the owner was super nice - and the clubhouse, pool, deck were all beautiful. No issues there - and you are even aloud to cook a damn marshmallow over the fire! Wow - what a concept! Stay away from Jim Thorpe unless you want to get robbed and ripped off by a family of tool bags. On top of all that, the cabins smelled horrible, and the beds even had some sort of grimy unidentifiable film on them - it was disgusting. Funny thing is, we even found people at the camp site we ended up at that got kicked out for nothing as well! And another group didn't even bother trying Jim Thorpe becasue they read the reviews! Stay away from this camp site - it is a dump, over crowded, and you get thrown out for throwing marshmallows over the fire. I even heard the managers father tried to get in someones face and fight them. Totally ridiculous. Stay away from this rip off place - it's a sham. See you in court buddy.

the manager of the "resort" (if you call it that) accused our LARGE party of trespassing. He told us the cops were coming and we would all be arrested for trespassing before confirming that were unregistered guests. We all then went to the main office and showed our receipts that we were paid guests. He refused to apologize to us. We then asked for a refund and he refused. We threatened to call the police ourselves, he then told us that he was the police and that we were not allowed to call the cops because we don't pay taxes in Jim Thorpe. We called the cops, the cops showed up and he was forced to give us our money back. We wil Never be returning.
