I didn't even get a chance to actually stay in the hotel. I made a reservation because of the location and low rate but had to cancel. The website (not a very sophisticated, interactive site one) did not have a "cancel reservation" button and my email confirmation stated that I must cancel online. I called the hotel and was met with a rude, crass staff member that hung up on me, twice! I called a third time and spoke with someone who told me that if you don't show, you won't be charged, regardless of what my email confirmation says. The rooms looked cruddy anyway, so will never, ever make a reservation for this dump again!
The Carte is a cool place to stay at a low budget. It is a few feet away from Times Square! Don't read the bad reviews! People who complain want 5 star service while paying only for a 2 star hotel. remember its a 2 star not 5 star hotel.
this hotel is ok...it had clean sheets, good beds, celan towels and hot water in the bathroom. If you're visiting NYC, you come to sight see, not to stay in a hotel room! so if you want to tour the city and need a place to crash at a low price and right on Times Square, then this is the hotel for you.
The worst hotel we have stayed in. You just dont expect to see blood stains on your comforter. TV didnt work, the bathroom mirror on the door was broken in half. The shower handle fell off when my husband went to take a shower, the toliet didnt flush after a much needed courtesy flush. Phone jack was ripped from wall for some reason, 70's carpet was our headboard, comforter was old and didnt fit the bed. We slept in our clothes thank goodness because at 2am we were awoken by an intercom telling us to come to the lobby where nobody knew what was going on and the hotel staff denied ever hearing an announcement. There were fire trucks outside so we thought somethings gotta be wrong so we left and ended up spening $400 for another hotel which we only used for 7 hours before having to leave for an event in New Jersey. Definitely memorable. Just glad we didnt have bedbugs but NO REFUND. Burn baby Burn.
it was horrible when we walked in there were literaly 15bugs that scurried out. we had holes in the sheets and when we asked for new ones the gave us another set with holes. the carpet (where there was carpet left) was stained to a dark brown - originally a white. Don't stay here it is to unfit for a roach!
it is described as the dirtiest hotel for 3 years in America! it is just horible!
the location is pretty good, close to resterants and transporation but the rooms are so dirty! DONT STAY THERE!
scumy, dirty, crass staff, dont clean the sheets, dont clean the roomsplace was falling apart, nothing good to say, absulote crap place, also a murder 2 weeks before we got there, wud be good in a tarantino movie, made us wait 45 mins for our room, room was a state, when i complain, they wanted to throw me out, some service!!!
i stayed in nyc 3 days one at the carter 130.00 two more at hotel pennsylvania 760.00 next time three days will be at the carter. i had
clean sheets no bugs friendly staff. nothing fancy. great location
I had 30 bites by bugs, Room 919 had rats who ate our pizza while we were sleeping. The room is dirty, dim, never had room service or maid. No changing sheet or cleaning the room while we were staying there for three days. The staff were rude.
The bed was soft but comfortable.
The physical condition of the room was just plan scary. The TV was broken and would not turn on. There was literally had a 4" hole in the wall near the A/C open to the outside; we plugged it with a towel. No lamp, just a single bare lighbulb in the ceiling in the center of the room. The TV table was broken. The wallpaper was torn. Two of the 4 (!) door locks were broken. The door also needed repair. The room has no decoration whatsoever.
At check-in the desk required cash (no Amex) and that seemed odd. We only stayed because it was $80 cheaper than other places I've stayed before.
