A nice choice
Snowpine is like staying at a camp, or perhaps at a house owned by a ski club. It's small and warm, with slightly run-down facilities. I found the other guests generally down-to-earth and friendly, and skied with several of them. The dinners were good (not, I think, as good as some of the other lodges, but no embarrassment). There were four or five married men there alone, in their 40s to 60s, whose wives didn't much like to ski. So the men were there in the dorms, in a place where there's not much to do except ski great powder, eat a nice dinner, and go to sleep early. (That said, there is an 8 pm movie every night on the lounge TV.) Snowpine gets lots of repeat business, which will shortly include me. It's towards the low end of Alta accommodations, but the price and the friendly guests make it a great choice.
