Loved it, loved it, loved it!

This is the most charming B&B I had ever stayed in. The owners, Karl and Jeff were charming, personable and informative. Karl was fantastic! I wanted to get a manicure on Saturday afternoon, bad timing on my part. But, he called his manicurist and she fit me in! He knew all the good places to go in the wonderful city of Pittsburgh. He and Jeff know the history, the story and the nitty-gritty of the city. The place is so clean, not a speck of dust, dirt, soap scum or cobweb in the entire place! Even very high ceilings are sparkling. You really feel comfortable in their elaborate dwelling. The beds are unbelievably comfortable. The main staircase is elegant, as is the sitting room and entrance. The grounds are beautiful, full of color and charm. The front porch welcomes you to sit and have coffee or read a book. The back veranda with the fountain under the structure is great for drinking wine in the evening and chatting with friends. The walkways are lit with adorable flower lanterns that add a whimsical ambiance to the grounds. I loved the cookies and popcorn in the evenings. The pastries, fruit and coffee were very good in the mornings. The location is Okay. The neighborhood is an up and coming urban renewal area. Some of the homes around the house are beautiful, some are in need of repair. You can tell there has been a lot of work done, but there still needs to be more done. The park across the street was great for a morning stroll, or to visit the aviary. The view of the park from our window in Mr. Boggs' room was very pretty, with the city popping up behind it. I wouldn't walk around at night. There are lots of homeless people in the area and were often camped out in front of the church or YMCA next door. However, it was easy to get to downtown and the highway from the location. The price was less expensive than any of the hotels in the area. For the price, you get a lot of space in your room, a good breakfast and great romance! Overall, my husband and I loved it, as did the friends we traveled with. We will be back. KT from Akron.
