Dirty Bathhouses....
I wanted to say how disappointed we were with the cleanliness of Jellystone Park Campground's bathhouses this weekend: Labor Day!
We had been to this campground before and decided to bring some friends with us this year. To our delight and surprise to see that the bathhouse on
the top of the hill was newly re-decorated with new tiles and flooring.
However, to our dismay...the entire time Fri. through Monday, the bathhouse was only cleaned once and not done very well! All I can gather was, it was cleaned only because I had gone down to the office and complained about it to the staff. Then it took them 3 hours to get someone to clean it...even though there were 2 staff personnel in the office not at all busy. In fact one of the staff that I talked to...didn't even apologize about the condition of it, but proceeded to tell me that it was a busy weekend & they always "try to clean it around 10 PM", which it had not been done because we had taken our showers that late every night to avoid the crowds that are always in the mornings. She just kept on making excuses...yadda...yadda....yadda.
Then about an hour after I had complained...one of the owners came by our campsite selling firewood. I told him about the bathhouse needing to be
cleaned and that there was blood on one of the stall walls. He said he would get that taken cared of...but it still took them 3 hours to get that bathhouse
cleaned and the blood was still on the stall wall and reminded there till we left! The bathhouse never got cleaned again and we left the campground around noon on Monday! I have no idea if the other bathhouse was any better...we never used it, but it serviced a larger area of the campground, so I can only imagine how dirty it must have gotten during the weekend.
The water temperatures in the showers were so horrible that one minute the water would be fine..then when a toilet was flushed (not only in the women's
but also in the men's bathhouse) the water would get stone cold and then go to boiling hot. So hot, in fact, that I had to step out of the shower or I would've
been scolded!
After I explained this to the staff, she just tried to excuse her way out of it. I then had to add...that if something wasn't done about the water temperature soon, they might find themselves with a REAL problem if some child (or adult) got hurt because of he excessive water temperatures. Then FINALLY stated she would make a note of it for "someone to look into".
Anyhow, needless to say...I doubt if our friends will ever want to go with us camping again at this campground...if WE ever do decide to go back to
Jellystone Park in Estes, Colorado.
