A Nightmare
Took my parents out for their anniversary along with my 9 year old daughter for dinner at the Union Canal House. Nice looking dining room, pleasant waitress. Very annoying cigar smoking man at the bar with frequent loud profanity was close to our table. My daughter asked the waitress if there was fish she could get that didn't have any bones, she has a big fear of choking on a fish bone. The waitress said the one kind of fish usually doesn't have any and that she would recommend it because it gets great reviews. So our meals come out and my daughter starts eating, and finds quite a few bones. She doesn't want to eat the fish and I ask the waitress if she can get something else. She takes the plate of fish away and goes in the back. A few minutes later, the cigar smoking man stumbles over to our table and, stinking of boos, starts yelling at us that he is the owner and that there is nothing wrong with that fish and that we are going to PAY full price for that meal, yelling louder and louder. My daughter is crying by the time he's done with his tirade, my parents are in a state of shock, and I am calmy trying to explain that we just want to eat a meal of our choosing in peace. The waitress comes by several more times and apologizes for the way the owner was, I felt bad for anyone working there so we stayed to finish our dinners and promptly left right after, and we will certainly NEVER return to that place.
