10 reviews for Greystone Manor Bed & Breakfast, Bird In Hand
Will not recommend this place to anyone!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/10
As we travel to the Bird in hand area several times a year I had often said as drove by.. I would like to stay there sometime.. So for my Christmas gift and our New Years together my husband booked a 3 night stay..He told me he said give us the bset room you have... When we checked in they immediately took our credit card and billed us for the room... Our first mistake.. Do not pay for a room until you see it.. She walked us to the bottom of the steps and said up there on the 3rd floor room #7... we walked in and said what the h...??.. The room was tiny with a twin bed,the tv even smaller and the other room had barely enough room for a double bed.. The carpet was dirty the bedspread and sheets were dingy and very well used.. Our second mistake.. We should have turned around and demanded our money back although I'm sure we would not have gotten it.. "Not their policy".. Well its New Years lets make the best of it.. We did drive 4 hrs to get here... Snack and drinks are available downstairs but you have to pay for them.. I thought that was totally insulting for a B&B.. The bed was so uncomfortable and the room was freezing.. We dug in a closet and found 2 blankets that I would have put out in my dog coop long ago.. No way to adjust the heat so we sat New Years wrapped in old blankets sitting sideways on a twin bed watching tv.. I did not sleep at all so when we got up in the morn we told them I was sick ( I was sick of that place) and asked for a refund... Nope.. Got a gift card for the balance minus there cancellation fee.. I WILL NEVER STAY THERE AGAIN.. ANd certainly would not give it to anyone else to stay there.. We left there and went to Kitchen Kettle Village and got CLEAN WARM rooms with the hospitality that all people shoud have when dealing with the public..Greystone Manor has a 14 day cancellation period That is absurd.. There are so many nice places to stay at I cannot figure out how this place keeps going..

Wonderful Flavor of the Area
By Gail, 06/27/08
This B&B really gave us the flavor of the area, which is what we wanted. Great location and amazing price. We stayed in the carraige house, which was small, but cute in the PA Amish style, and it was all we needed. The grounds were lovely. Didn't meet the owners as they were away, but their parents were friendly and helpful. Complete buffet breakfast. We stayed fall '07, and just made reservations for fall '08.

Do not stay here unless you are over the age of 50!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/19/08
I recently spent my vacation in Lancaster PA and stayed at the Greystone Manor located in Bird-In-Hand. I was really excited because the website had made the place seem really great. However, as soon as I arrived the entire experience was ruined not by the location, but by the family running the establishment. I would have expected a Bed and Breakfast to have a warm inviting atmosphere, but the family that works there did not even introduce themselves or tell me their name. It was straight to business with them and they seemed enfuriated to be bothered at all. If I ever asked them a question it was a quick one word responce and then the conversation was over. Second, all websites advertising Greystone Manor list it as a pet-friendly place. This is not true. As I brought my small 15 lb dog out of the car, they immediately acted as if I was trying to sneak my dog in and acted as if they had caught me. After seeing that I had a pet they claimed that they would have to charge me an additional 25 dollars per night! Another point to note, if there are few guests at the manor at the time of your stay, you can forget about having them take the time to adjust the AC if you like. It was extremely hot in my room. I had asked them to turn the AC on and they had told me to just open a window... That is the amazing service you will recieve at Greystone Manor. Also, when eating breakfast if you are a young professional or anyone under the age of 50 they will not help you out at all. Me and my fiance were eating breakfast just us and one other senior couple. We were surrounded by empty dishes. The other couple had one lone dish laying out. The male that worked at the B&B politely asked them if he could clear their dish and simply ignored us. Lastly, don't expect a romantic getaway either when staying at Greystone Manor, most windows have a lovely veiw of their parking lot. Thank you, I hope that you do not make the same mistake that I did.

Amazing for the price
By Joanne, 03/15/08
we paid 59.00 for a queen room with a hot breakfast. It was clean and close to everything. We stay at lots of b&b's across the country and this one was great. The family was very cute and helpful and we loved every minute. We had dinner with an Amish family that was outstanding and I recommend that to everyone. All in all this was a great inn, good food and good people. God bless your family!

Wonderful stay!
By Sandra, 11/28/07
we loved this place. we have been to lancaster several times and always wanted to stay there and we finally did and it was great. the room was clean and a beautiful victorian decor to it. Breakfast was also great we got to choose out of 3 different entrees and then helped ourselves to the breakfast bar. we saw the christmas show too and that was lovely. Innkeepers helped us in making arrangments for dinner and the show so we thank them for that, it was a great holiday stay and we will be back next year!

Below Expectations
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/04/07
I would like to preface that my husband and I love B&Bs and have stayed in them from Colorado to Louisiana to Pennsylvania. Unfortunately, we were really disappointed with the quality and cleanliness. Our room had a bedspread that had stains on both sides of the comforter, I am talking about the kind you can scratch off with your fingernail, we all know what people do in rented rooms. The stairs looked like they hadn't been vaccuumed or dusted in a long time. Neither of the two nights did we sleep comfortably, the bed felt as bad as a Motel 6 bed - I couldn't wait to go home to my bed. You cannot regulate the temperature for your room either. Secondly, breakfast was like a continental serving with styrofoam cups for coffee and you get it yourself! The hosts were friendly, but not necessarily hospitable. The grounds are great and the house structure beautiful, but the quality of ambiance in the rooms and breakfast left MUCH to be desired.

Great Getaway
By Ro, 05/08/06
It was a family trip! My husband, my mom, our 18 yr old daughter and 10 month old son. Breakfast, delicious! The room was very comfortable and very accomodating for all 5 of us. We slept very well and woke up to the singing of the birds and roosters! I would go stay with Angie & Wade again! Thank you!
