Poor Customer Service
My fiance and I stayed at the St. Julien in April 2008. The hotel itself is very pretty and the staff level employees were friendly. It seems, however, that management is another story. I left a pair of eyeglasses in our room after checkout, which were quickly found by the staff when I called to let them know. The hotel assured me they'd keep them in a safe place so I could come and pick them up. They lost them. Rather than quickly resolving the issue and reimbursing me for their cost (I even faxed them the sales receipt), I have been waiting for six weeks for some sort of action from them. The housekeeping manager I have been dealing with over this issue initially seemed to think I was on a mission to "get something" from the hotel, and was not apologetic in the least when I explained that HER staff had lost them. Now, six weeks later, she claims they've located my glasses buried in the bottom of some donation box, and shouldn't I be happy.
It is laughable to me that a hotel of this supposed "high-end" quality would put a customer through this much headache over a pair of eyeglasses that their staff misplaced. I have stayed in many four and five star hotels, and the St. Julien does not live up to the quality of service one should expect from such an establishment. They have lost me as a customer for good. Spend your money elsewhere.
