Nice hotel. Terrible SPA/SALON
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/24/09
We loved the hotel, but when we checked in to get our spa services the receptionist were so rude. They didn't have a clue about anything. The facial was good. The salon is a JOKE!!! So unprofessional. The girl who gave me a pedicure could hardly speak English and was dressed so inappropriately. It was an awful pedicure. My friend had a decent pedicure. We will never go back. I suggest that no one use the salon in the St Julien.

Poor Customer Service
By amy, 07/07/08
My fiance and I stayed at the St. Julien in April 2008. The hotel itself is very pretty and the staff level employees were friendly. It seems, however, that management is another story. I left a pair of eyeglasses in our room after checkout, which were quickly found by the staff when I called to let them know. The hotel assured me they'd keep them in a safe place so I could come and pick them up. They lost them. Rather than quickly resolving the issue and reimbursing me for their cost (I even faxed them the sales receipt), I have been waiting for six weeks for some sort of action from them. The housekeeping manager I have been dealing with over this issue initially seemed to think I was on a mission to "get something" from the hotel, and was not apologetic in the least when I explained that HER staff had lost them. Now, six weeks later, she claims they've located my glasses buried in the bottom of some donation box, and shouldn't I be happy. It is laughable to me that a hotel of this supposed "high-end" quality would put a customer through this much headache over a pair of eyeglasses that their staff misplaced. I have stayed in many four and five star hotels, and the St. Julien does not live up to the quality of service one should expect from such an establishment. They have lost me as a customer for good. Spend your money elsewhere.

Awesome retreat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/06/08
Loved the rooms, the sauna (minted steam), the location, and the service. Am hooked on the independant hotels. Similar to the Estancia hotel in La Jolla.

Terrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/08
I went to the Spa at the St Julien for a simple manicure. It costs $75 and it looked like it had been done by a 2 year old. When I complained they said there was nothing they could do. Do not go to the spa here. You will be disappointed.

Worst service I ever had
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/03/07
On March 30, 2007, I joined a birthday party on the patio of the St. Julien Hotel. It took an hour to get a glass of water and another hour to get a simple panini sandwich, which was not half as good as Safeway sells them. The waitress was flustered and didn't seem to have been trained properly. Barb.

Fantastic
By Martin, 08/20/07
This is a wonderful boutique hotel in the heart of the Boulder entertainment district. Walk to lots of great restaurants and the Boulder Theater. Lively lobby bar, good restaurant. However, if you want to use the spa you better make reservations ahead of time.

Service was superb. The rooms are spacious and welcoming. The beds are extremely comfortable -- guarantee a good night of rest. Food is great and the location is absolutely perfect.

Terrible service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/21/07
THis hotel had the worst service ever. MY wife and I travel about every 3 months. We stayed at the St Julien March 18 and 19 . We cut our trip short because of the service. The rooms are small .We had pot all over our Patio area. We could hear our neighbors wake up call both mornings. When we forgot out toothpaste we were told that they had ran out. The service in the restaurant was no better. We had to get our own chairs for the bar. It took more than 10 minutes to get our car from valet. The one good thing was the spa had it not been for our appointments we had made a month earlier we would have lft on the first day. This is a 2 year old hotel and the the staff seems to be in training

great hotel with bad Air-Cond
By Andrei, 08/21/05
Stayed at St. Julien three times in the spring-summer 2005. Very nice interior but air-conditioning that does not work!! Tried to set the temperature to 68F and it would still stay at 75-77C; seems that the AC system is just too weak. The hotel management was not truthful about the problem (e.g. "we've been working on it since yesterday" while the problem existed for a month). The location is great, right next to Pearl St. The service is intermittent, some good, some bad. If AC is fixed, I could give it three-four stars.
