Sara's Campground, Erie

READ THE REVIEWS: This is NOT a famiy destination. Stayed in August 12 to find loud, rude, underage, drunken campers far past "lights out". Complained two nights in a row only to be told WE (me and four kids under the age of 14) would have to leave because WE were complaining (they knocked our tent over!). Useless "security" onsite. Took three complaints before they walked down, by which time underage kids scattered to their tents. Dirty beach, rude staff, no sleep--drive the extra few miles to the KOA or stay at a a motel. Read the reviews--you have been warned,

I just visited Sara's Campground this past week. I had the best experience, again. The restrooms and shower facilities were extremely clean ! The staff was helpful and so friendly. The owner's were the most polite family, and also very helpful. The beach was clean, and no dead fish were all over. Security was walking throughout the campground and helped make our stay better. People we not out of control and up all night partying like other campgrounds. We have met new friends from all over PA. I can't wait to come back up again this summer. I wish to become a seasonal sometime soon. I don't think I would ever leave. I had such a great time, and I will tell all my friends and family to come to Sara's.

Visited with my family for the weekend and had the best time ever!! Affordable, clean and we tented on the beach, wow!

PROS: Great location walking distance to the beach Tasty restaurants nearby with the BEST creamsicle ice cream cones Pleasant and helpful staff Concrete pads for RV parking Quiet and peaceful at night (No rowdy campers interrupting my sleep!) CONS: We were parked on the bay side and every night I was awakened by the sound of a train blaring its horn in the distance. I am a light sleeper and it woke me up every time it passed (3-4 times each night.) In contrast, my husband (who sleeps like a rock) had no trouble and actually never heard it until I pointed it out during the daytime. I would not return because of this. Being sleep deprived is not my idea of a relaxing vacation.

while we waited on someone helping us get a site we decided to look around glad we did. the bathrooms were filty and smelled, cigerette butts everywhere. there were some campers there that looked like they had been there for years This placed looked nothing like the pictures. just nasty and dirty needless to say we left.

I have been going to Sara's campground for over 40 years as a tent camper. Yes it has changed some over the years, Mostly for the better. It's name or owner has been the same. And it's all in what you let it be. The security is trying to do their jobs to keep it quiet, yet still letting people have fun. They do get a bit abrupt sometimes. The beachside is a bit different that the bayside which for the past year or more has regular sites with numbers. However, it's not the Ritz or the Hilton. Nor deemed to be .......It's camping people. I bring my Mother, my kids, and this year my grand kids. Tenting is supposed to be a bit of dirt and outdoors, fires and believe it or not ...bugs too!! Geez, get over your being on a pedestal and find some hotel to go to if you don't like it.

This place is totally overcrowded and we were dismayed to find how filthy our campsite was (cigarette butts, wrapers, water bottles thrown into the wooded area, beer bottle caps) trash left in the fire pit. This place looks like a refugee camp. What you think is 1 camp site they consider 2 or 3,the tents are very close together. The beach camping is a joke with tents set-up allover the place and very close together. This place is aweful, we will never stay here again.

we use to go to saras when the kids were little but now that they are grown up and we have 6 grandchildren i would never take them here in afraid of the filth and the dead fish floating in the water there are dead fish and fish bones laying on the beach where you are suppossed to lay your towel down and relax i dont think so so if you want a relaxful vacation and dont prefer to stay in filth then this may be a place to visit when you see the atmosphere and how disgusting this beach has become you will change your mind instantly hope your hopes are not crushed but before you waste your money and time i would investigate this place further

Should be a retirement center!!! the security guards are the ruddest and the most unhelpful people I have ever met. They ruin the entire campround.
