Nothing but Negatives
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/17/09
We have been going to this campground for at least 10 years. It now has new ownership who are only concerned about money. The price has doubled and the family atmosphere has disappeared completely. The new staff is rude and inconsiderate. I would not recommend this to anyone who is looking for a nice peaceful family resort. Kids are constantly racing up and down the roads in golf carts, it is loud due to Route 15, and on the weekends there are so many people it is almost impossible to get into the pools and enjoy yourself.

No peace and quite
By UNHAPPY CAMPER, 08/17/09
I was put in a campsite that which was located where no campsite should have ever been placed. I paid over $50.00 a nite for a site along side the entrance to the park on a curve where every one of the 300 plus campers shine their headlights on you and your family every night as they return to the campground while your trying to enjoy your campfire. The staff was rude, and not concerned at all about customer service or satisfaction. The bathrooms were not clean, and had an odor about them. The camp store was way overpriced as was the campsite rates. The noise from bordering HWY15 was non-stop. If you want to get away and relax do NOT stay here.

Negatives outweigh the positives
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/08/09
Positives: nice cottages, good pool, close to some parts of the battlefield Negatives: overpriced, especially during events, quite a bit of noise from the highway (had to sleep with ear plugs!), disdainful attitude to the customers' complaints, rude upper management, the mini-golf and the waterslide would cost you an arm and a leg. They had a huge construction project going on right next door to our cottage during our stay and neglected to mention it upon checkin. Construction noise continued well into the night (10-11pm!) and resumed again at 6am in the morning! So much for getting a good night's sleep on vacation... No apologies from the upper management. Bottom line: go elsewhere if you are looking for a peaceful and quiet place.

Nice for camper hermits!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/07/09
Roads were not kept (big ruts). Dirt and dust everywhere. Can't seem to stay clean. Landscaping was noticable around office/pool. Non-existent everywhere else. Most sites were very tiny-just big enough to hold your camper. Our site was "in the back" of the campground, on a hill. It made getting into our camper quite an exercise! I was worried one of us would get hurt. Even with an added step (built up on camper risers), it was difficult. No one seemed to know anything about local happenings (July 4th weekend/Civil War reenactment). Bathrooms not too clean. Pool water nasty. Expensive too! We will never go back. I prefer Roundtop Campground one exit up.

Save Your Money- Spend It Elsewhere
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/04/09
The campground itself is in good condition. The problem is the people running the campground. The women at the front desk are not personable, quick tempered, and do not give out needed informationwithout pulling it from them. We talked with several campers, some of which have been staying there for 10 + years. All of them have expressed that they will be staying elsewhere next year. For being a resort that WE PAY TO ENJOY, it seem that WE are a BOTHER to ask questions. Several campers feel that they want to get ALL SEASONAL CAMPERS, instead of the weekly rentals. We are telling everyone we know, in our camping circle to " find another place". We would rather go further to stay with friendly , thankful campgrounds, than be treated like " you have payed your money- now leave us alone" attitude. Extremely Disappointed From Maryland

Stay Away
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/10/09
I would NOT recommend this campground. My friend and I were traveling across country and we heard about this campground, we tried to keep it cheap when we stayed places. This place was 20 more than other campground, ridiculous, but we thought maybe it would be worth it. Not at all. They charge too much, then they charge to use the pool with the waterslide which was ridiculous! They put us at a site that was completely by ourselves and away from everything and then they closed early and no one that worked there stayed at the campground. They was no security circulating the grounds at night, so we felt a little creeped out. One woman that was staying there had an overflowing toilet in her cabin and no one was around to fix it, I dont know what she did. Overall, not worth the stay.

Overpriced...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/17/08
Nice clean campground, but the staff was not overly-friendly. Be sure to watch out for "hidden" costs. The splash park is only open Thurs.-Sun (which was not explained to us when we made our Sat-Wed reservations.) The splash park is quite a hike from the camp store and the walking trail is CLOSED, making it more complicated. You must PAY for the WATERSLIDE at the campstore on the opposite end of the campground BEFORE you can use it. Also, this was not explained to our wives and small children who hiked for 1/2 hour to the splash park. Bring a grate if you want to grill anything at the RV sites. We were told there were grills at the site when I called and asked, but there were not. Conveniently, the camp store sold one for $17. We made due. If you are interested, the Wi-Fi is an additional charge as well. Not included. The swimming pool was nice. The location is okay (but check your campsite location - it is directly adjacent to Route 15, a major highway with lots of traffic noise.)

been goning for years it's gonna stop now
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/11/08
first we requested a certain site they said was already reserved which no one was in our whole trip. second pool open til dusk dosen't mean at 7 dark at 9 8:30 would have been fine plus me and another camper had to skim the pool so it was clean to swim .third the snack bar is only open til 7 at the latest and don't bother to buy the ice cream must be from last year and the cones freezer burnt and the cones were so stale. fourth the back pool and slide weren't even open you think if there gonna charge and extra 10 bucks to use the slide they would have it open. fifth they raised the price to almost 60 bucks heck for ten more i can get a hotel room this place is a prime example of corporate america money hungary cut all extras no crafts while we were there 60 bucks to rent a golf cart wow with the price of fuel you think they would be a bit more welcoming. this place and all it's ammenties has taken a big dive many other places to stay in g- burgh KOA GRANITE HILL ROUND TOP AND ALOT CHEAPER

We're coming back!
By ooookaayyy, 03/03/08
We loved Drummer Boy last year! Staff was helpful and friendly, both on the phone and once we got there. Our deluxe cottage was clean and fresh, and there was a separate barbecue pit from the cooking barbecue, which was nice. You could rent a golf cart in order to get around (expensive), but we didn't really have to, because you are still allowed to drive your car all around the campsite. It was a little crowded in the tent areas that I could see, and their two room cabins seemed pretty small, but I only saw them from the outside. The activity pool area is AWESOME, repeat, awesome for kids and adults alike! One thing: come prepared with everything you will need, and DO NOT FORGET THE CHARCOAL! Items to be purchased at the camp store are obviously going to be more expensive than at a grocery store, think 7-11 or Wawa prices. All in all, our family had a wonderful time, and we were sad to leave after only 4 days. This year we will be staying for one week, and we can't wait! Highly recommend for families and couples alike.
