Close to Red Rocks but that's about it . . .

The Cliff House Lodge did not suit our tastes in the least. But, I'll start off this review with something positive . . . the new Inn Keeper was great. Very helpful and friendly. Now for the negative. The "cottage" we stayed in needed some serious upkeep and de-cluttering. There were dusty nicknacks all over the walls and in every available space. Even an old deer head mounted on the wall over the teeny TV. In making the reservations, we had booked a king sized bed but received something along the lines of a double. Kind of stinks when you're 6'2" and your feet hang off the bottom. (the bed was reasonably comfortable, though) Ugh. The bathroom. All bodily functions came to a screeching halt upon arriving at the Cliff House Lodge. The "bathroom" (really - a toilet in a closet) had a slatted, folding door with several of the slats missing. Needless to say, it afforded very little privacy. The shower was a glass stall set practically in the middle room with a (literally clear) view out the back door . . . which we had to keep open to air the stuffiness out. Between the sounds of the motorcycles going up and down the road and the music/voices coming from the bar located directly behind the property, there was little R & R to be had.
We booked 3 nights but only stayed 1 . . . leaving before breakfast was served on the plates set outside on the patio the night before. (woodsy area = bugs crawling all over what you're supposed to eat on) That one night was VERY pricey because our Visa was charged the minute we made the reservation several months ago. (Be sure to see cancellation policy)
If you're looking for an unusual place and don't mind a little grime . . . the Cliff House Lodge is for you. If you're looking for something clean where you're not afraid to take off your shoes and/or have your neighbor see you while showering . . . then I'd keep looking.
