Green Gables Inn and Restaurant, Beach Haven

The Gables is a great b&b, with a wonderful, upscale restaurant, and nicely appointed, very clean, if not slightly small, rooms. The owner and manager and staff are perfect hosts--friendly and helpful but not overbearing. The location is perfect: a block and a half from the beach and a block and a half from scores of places to eat and shop and rent bikes. The prices may seem a bit high, but in Beach Haven it is difficult to find anything in this price range that offers this level of comfort, cleanliness, and location. Also, breakfast was included and is a real treat (along with Beach Tags, beach chairs, and wireless internet). The attention to detail is outstanding. My wife and I were very pleased and would happily return.

Last month my wife took in a long weekend at the newly renovated Gables Restaurant & Inn. In short, it was a FANTASTIC experience that we hope to repeat soon. I've visited Long Beach Island several times a year for the past decade and can honestly say that the Gables not only offers the nicest accommodations I've seen on the Island (comfortable beds, gorgeous Victorian decor--each room with its own distinct character and charm, remote controlled fire place, flat panel TV with DVD player, marble bath and jacuzzi tub!), but the best FOOD as well. The Inn staff was courteous and helpful. The room was spotless. If it weren't for the very friendly staff and some of the NJ accents, I might have forgotten we were on LBI and not in Europe. The Inn is a block from one of the nicest beaches on the East Coast and there a bunch of neat shops nearby. My wife especially liked the chocolate shop next door. We ate all our meals at the Gables' restaurant, which was a good thing. Everything tasted great. The service was superb, without seeming stuffy. If you plan to visit LBI, at the very least, pop your head into The Gables for a quick look. The owners and staff have done an amazing job of renovating this historic inn. Sean & Renata Moore

The renovations have retained the charm of the Victorian Era but the new decor brightens the entire dining experience. We had lunch on the porch. The meal, the service, and particularly the cuisine were all spectacular. There were six of us and five different selecions were ordered from the menu presentations. No one was disappointed. We had lunch at The Gables recently and brought our children as well. We were surprised at how well they accomodated us and even more pleased when the food turned out to be exceptionally good. Try their Falafel or their Burgers you won't regret it.
