Horrible dirty!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/22/07
We went there for a weekend with an infant, my daughter. The rooms are nicely decorated with antiques, a little bit too crowded, they make you empty a dehumidifer/ac that blows on you...I put my luggage on the floor, when I stood it up it was all gray due to the astronomic amount of DUST...I do not want to think about the dust mites crawling on us at night...the toilet was very dirty...no soap, no TV, they had a note saying that a maid cleaned the room the previous day, well the card was antique because the place was very dusty. I cleaned the toilet myself...the price of the hotel was 100 bucks, so well if you want to spend your money and suffer...enjoy a night at Pitney's house. The breakfast was an omlet, muffin and juice...not very impressive... We got a better deal next time by booking a regular hotel on the strip.

Give this place props!!!!!!

The owner was a darling. Breakfast was awesome. The rooms were quaint and tidy. I want to return for another romantic weekend. All the rooms have modern fireplaces. He cooks breakfast and chats with you. Best coffee I've had in ages. You won't be hungry for lunch. This is not a scrambled eggs place out of a cartin. He puts 100% more effort into the food.

Nice, but could have been better

We were in a party and stayed in several rooms. The rooms in the main house are ornate and beautifully decorated, but the rooms are small and crowded with antiques. Also, you should know that most, if not all, of the rooms in the main house do not have TV or central air. The "air conditioner" is an appliance that needs to have the water emptied every 4-6 hours which is annoying. If you're gone longer than 6 hours, it just shuts off, which means coming back to a very warm room. I'm not sure why they don't just put in a window air conditioner as the rooms are small enough they would cool down pretty easily. The guest quarters, behind the main house, are more expensive, newer, larger and have both central air and a TV. If you are coming in the warmer months, I'd stronger advise to book these. They also have jacuzzi tubs and a private balcony. The outside of the main and guest houses were in need of a good powerwash as they were dirty and dusty and the outdoor gardens are not maintained at all. The property borders a private home with less than appealing view in the back yard which is separted by metal and orange plastic fencing. They really should put a wood fence there as that's your first view of the property. Most of the rooms, including the dining room, are in need of a fresh coat of paint and the rooms tended to be dusty with cobwebs. The breafasts were very good, though surprisingly had little fresh fruit, despite New Jersey having wonderful strawberries, peaches and blueberries and too bad they didn't have a way to better air condition the dining room as it was very warm. It's just a short 20 minute drive to Ocean City or Atlantic City, so the location we found very convenient, but unless the items I identified are corrected, it is not a good value for your money.
