River Street Inn, Truckee

I liked the room the best. I read the comment about the train below, however I found it to be a very beautiful serene sound, so much better then the sirens in the city. Every morning the owner puts a breakfast spread that makes my mouth water thinking of it. Suddenly, in the AM I would smell the coffee aroma filtering in my room. My room over looked a beautiful river, had a wonderful bath tub, and a little knook where you can just sit and reflect on the beauty of the area, and the grandness of the Inn. There is wi-fi, strong signal for my laptop. I want to write a book and I could do it from this wonderful Inn. No car needed for the best food and shopping I have ever seen and tasted. The shops have unique items which I cherish and use daily. Ladies: Beautiful clothes 2 blocks away. A book store right accross the street where they serve gourmet coffee drinks, and there is tables to use your computer, and the owner of that shop is awesome. I am not a child, I am 59 years old and have traveled a lot. I am telling you this is where to stay, Lake Tahoe is a few miles away. Across from this Inn is a restaurant which has the wonderful food with excellent service. I have medical conditions, and the cook took the time to prepare my food so I could eat it and not compromise my condition. I want to go back as soon as I can.

This building is about 25 feet from the train crossing that runs all night. I had earplugs and they did not help at all. Building is in a bad location and I did not get any sleep. Manager was unsympathetic, offered a gift certificate instead of a refund (like I want to go back??) Save yourself the trouble and book the Best Western a half mile up the road - away from the train.

The people were nice and rooms were comfortable and cozy. I loved this bed & breakfast because its right in downtown but still gives you the quaint relaxing feeling. Next time I visit Truckee the River Street Inn is where I'm staying!
