Will never go back unless things change
By Elle, 4/9/12
For the past 4 years my family and I have attended the wonderfully delicious Easter brunch. We thought that today would be no exception. However, it was. We couldn't believe the scant, awful looking food that the owners really thought one would pay $30.00 for. They had nasty looking meager pieces of deserts on little saucers and spread them all out with about 3 feet between them thinking that they could fool paying customers into thinking there was a lot of food! WHAT???? About 4 warmers with gross steamed salmon, eggs benedict (I think) with oil poured on them. What a sad situation this wonderful historic hotel has become. The owners should be EMBARRASSED for their lack of class and inability to sell apppropriate amount of food and at least make it look appetizing. We walked out. I'm still grossed out and I feel so bad that this place has come to this. Please fix it before it's too late. It was the greatest place!!

The Best in the West
By Gayle, 4/26/10
What a wonderful time was had by all. We started off with a great Jazz show and 4 course meal on Friday night...on Monday evening we sang the night away at Perryoke run by Perry Arnn. Who also danced the night away with the love of his life (his words), Linda Merrell. This is a great place to spend the night or even a week. We will all go back again!

Bartender and management are scary
By Bill Smith, 12/22/09
The bartender is dangerous, the man started cursing at me and my family in front of all the bar because one of his local drunk friends was on a bender and wanted to fight. If you have a nice family and want to stay safe stay out of their bar or better yet stay in town in one of the hotels and have a lot better time.

Threats, Libel & Slander
By Storey, 10/12/09
As a volunteer of the Storey County Legal Defense Fund, we do not appreciate the owner of the Gold Hill threatening other business owners in the community. Also she should know that the allegations she is makeing against people in the community are considered Liable & Slander. Our attorneys have been notified.

We filmed a ghost
By martin, 1/7/09
During our visit over the xmas holidays, we walked through the rooms of the old part. While taking video of my girlfriend in the pink room i captured a ghost in the mirror standing next to me. He had shoulder length blond hair, black overcoat, taller than me, wider than me and believe it or not a bullet hole in the right side of his forehead. We could not believe it but its true. Any one wishing copies can contact me at MJCarlese@Yahoo.com I WILL BE BACK for another tour.

Living History - Fantastic Place to Stay
By LydiaR, 7/16/08
Recently stayed here. This hotel is so wonderful, we made a last minute reservation that night, and they were so friendly and accomodating. The bar was a fun place, the hotel parlor charming. Our room was immaculate and, even though we were in the "new" section, I did hear some quite clear noises I couldnt explain. I am almost certain the past guests loved it so much, they stayed and are hanging around. Can't beat the price and location! We will be going back later this year, sounds like a great place to see in the Winter too!

An unexpected surprise
The wife and I, along with a couple of friends spent a couple of nights in the Brewery house last week. It was great, along with the bar and restaurant. We really enjoyed the fireplace that we used both evenings. We were also able to attend a lecture on wild horses. It sad to think what is happening to these magestic animals. All in all, we will return, and would highly recommend the Gold Hill to anyone that may be staying in the area. Larry and Cathy Mathews

Was the Room Haunted?
By esther94619, 11/7/07
We didn't see/hear anything but our room was in the new section,(with AC, 2nd level) rear. Large room with high beds, antiques, clean. If you're not wanting to climb stairs, stay on the 1st floor. There are back stairs that lead to the bar (lined with $1 bills), where continental breakfast is served. It's fun to explore the hotel. Stay more than one day. Nice bookstore near lobby too. Only pet peeve: Ice is available only when the bar is open or an employee is nearby. Got to be a headache going for ice and having to ask for it. What I did find that was really cute: Miniaturists will love the little teapots on the top of the frame doors. Summer trip: It was hot.

We return every year!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/10/07
We go to the Gold Hill Hotel every year to celebrate my birthday. We are hooked! The rooms are immaculate, the staff are very pleasant and friendly and we always meet alot of very nice people. We book for the next year when we check out. If you like history, this is the place to go. We stay in one of the rooms in the original part of the hotel and you get the feeling you are sharing the room with residents from the past. The saloon is one of my favorites because it too makes you feel you are back in time. What a great place!

Gold Hill Hotel - Crown Point Resturant
By Charlotte, 5/30/07
The Gold HIll is a historic location resplendant with 1800's charm. The owners, the Fains are wonderfully friendly and down to earth. The Crown Point Resturant offers entertainment in season. They feature dinner shows with local talent and gourmet dining. Monday evenings feature Perryoke with Perry Arnn and a large ensemble of local talents with honestly wonderful voices. Perry also teaches ballroom dancing and graces the floor with amour Sharon McCray. Start of with the Miners Special dinner followed by the rest and what a delightful evening.
