The innkeeper (you never get to see the owner) made us feel like customers and not "guests." The breakfast was bland, the bed uncomfortable, and the rooms were much smaller than I had expected. Above all else, though, I had a hard time believing I paid for such small, cramped space, and to have the innkeeper treat my wife and I so poorly. Will NEVER go back!! Avoid this place like the plague!
We will not be returning to the Taylor House. The staff was friendly and did everything within their power to make our trip enjoyable, but the owner of the B&B would not give us the time of day. Every other B&B we've ever been to had an innkeeper who cared and took time out to nourish his or her monetary and time investment. This man rushed around and left the premises without giving his guests even a glance. There are other B&B's to try in Columbia, and next time we are there, we'll be chosing one of them.
Also, we wanted to enjoy sleeping in a little bit, but there was such a racket upstairs that we woke up as soon as they did. I'm assuming "they" are the innkeeper's family, since the workers said they lived on the 3rd floor and we stayed on the 2nd floor. It sounded like a stampede up there. It was ridiculous. We paid good money to have a relaxing stay, and we were rudely ignored by the owner and awakened early by his family. Not to mention breakfast was skimpy.
