Ambassador Lodge, South Lake Tahoe

I booked this hotel around april through Hotwire w/ the intention to have a great time with my wife and kids. The feature picture looks inviting enough (5 story bldg.w/palm tree up front) .I should have known something was amissed because there's no palm trees in south lake tahoe..they have pine trees instead. It also stated about continental breakfast only to find out it's only available on weekends. I asked the desk clerk to give me the best room and he said "sure". When we got into our room we immediately realized that we're in a motel and not a hotel/lodge. Just when we're unloading our things our next door neighbors got into a loud argument. The room was mediocre at best. The night stand (if that's what you call it) was attached to the wal w/o pegs. The beds was so worn out it sunk in when you sat down. We then went to dinner but decided that this motel cannot be our dwelling for the night. When we got back, I told the desk clerk my disappointment and showed him the picture that I have printed from the website with their motels name above the itinerary. Even the desk clerk couldn't understand why that picture which is no way look like their motel was featured as theirs.This motel is rated 2 1/2 stars along with 3 stars hotels. We then decided to booked in a prestigious hotel and the lady that checked us in emphatized with our dilemna and gave us the best rate possible.
