Horrible Experience, Find Another Motel
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/4/11
Several months in advance our Girl Scout troop was offered a great deal at this motel and made reservations for a weekend stay for 12 people, in two suites with kitchenettes. Upon arrival we were given two ordinary rooms that could sleep only 8, no kitchenettes. She offered us two cots, which would still have only put the beds to 10, leaving two to sleep... where? I will give them some credit, she called a motel next door and was trying to get us one room there, but we would have had to pay more. We took the rooms to give us time to think, and start looking if there was anything else available on such short notice. Being Friday evening we weren't hopeful, but were able to find suites to sleep everyone at the Quality Inn and Suites Garden of the Gods, they were awesome and professional and helpful. We were able to call family at home and have them get online to find suites available - without that ability I don't know if we would have found anything. When we then told the lady at Rainbow Lodge we would not be staying and wanted a full refund, she threw a fit and only wanted to refund us for the one night, not both. She said we were not holding to our word and that she would not be able to rent the rooms out that night. No thought to their word to give us what we reserved. Things did get heated, but she gave us our full refund and we were able to leave and continue with our weekend, albeit with everyone a bit stressed and missing the start of the Flying W Ranch that night.
