Hounds Tooth Inn, Oakhurst

I loved the grounds and the cleanliness of this Inn. But instead of being a restful haven, I found it to be a tense and invasive environment. I found the staff to be unprofessional and into their own comfort. When the airline lost my luggage, United called to arrange delivery at the Inn. The Inn refused delivery saying it was because I hadn't checked in yet, even though I had a guarenteed reservation. It's an hour drive from Fresno to the Inn and I didn't think to call them to alert them about my luggage since my arrival would be before the 9pm cut-off they mention on their website. I ended up going nearly 24 hours without my clothes and medications. When I said to the staff I didn't think the Inn was an appropriate place for a business traveler (I was staying there for a writers conference near Yosemite) the Inn Keepers became angry. The rest of my stay was marred by unsettling incidents like my room door standing open one night upon my return. There was no receipt for my room charges until I made a point of asking for it and as a result I got two unsolicited wake up calls at 6am on the Sunday morning I was to check out. Initially, I was going to say business travelers should avoid this Inn, but now I couldn't recommend it to anyone. I certainly won't be going back.
