15 reviews for Sierra Sky Ranch, Oakhurst
Save your $$-- Skip the Sierra Sky Ranch

You are greeted by a sour faced clerk that acts like you are suspect, gossiped about by the staff to other patrons, wait over an hour in their restaurant for food that has been left on the warmer too long (hard and crusty), the rooms are a pigsty with holes in the linens and curtains, the parking is horrible (watch out for your tires) dusty pebble infested and uneven. Many potholes present and the parking area is not well lit at all. The rest of the outside grounds are also unkempt. The inside flooring is so bad you can't sleep at night because the floors creak very badly in the hallway when others walk. No towels in the room had to go to find someone to get them. Good luck with that. The doors get stuck a lot and let drafts into the room. Owner's assistant confided that they have had many break ins by ex-employees. At night there is no one there and you are on your own. No continental breakfast as claimed. Only found out they advertise it by other reviews. Found out through other reviews that they have a habit of cancelling events and then refusing to let people cancel their reservations and have actually billed them anyway!!!!! If this doesn't stop you and you go there anyway and have a bad incident I encourage you to report them to the Better Business Bureau.

By craig, 09/05/09
this is exactly what we expected and so much more. my 3 year old was welcomed at check in and treated specially by the waitstaff during dinner. my wife and I enjoyed the hammocks, pool, and sitting areas, both inside and out. dinner was wonderful, desssert fabulous, and service outstanding.we had no less than 5 people including our waiter taking care of us. people this is a wonderful experience we plan to enjoy over and over. I can't understand the negative reviews I read, did you expect the ritz.

What a gem of a place!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/09/09
We had our dog and needed a place to stay the night. Everyone in Town was booked up or not taking dogs so the Sierra Sky Ranch was recommended to us and we went there. Wow! What a fabulous place full of amazing History and character!! We loved every minute of it from the large secluded property to the roosters in the pen!! We will put this Gem on our list of spots to explore when we have more time!!! Loved it!!

By Theresa, 09/04/08
this place is absolutely highly recommend! amazing! ted works with you in every aspect! we had our wedding there aug 2008 and it was just PERFECT. He made everything so stress free! we had guests who lived 2-4 hours away come up. 100 guests at our wedding and the SSR staff was just amazing!! they were on top of everything! and the bar stayed open as long as we were still up and drinking. there was not one complaint from our guests. and you'd be surprised how many of your guests are willing to stay. I had written more but my computer froze up and now i can't think of what i wrote before b/c i feel like i've said it all haha. if anyone wants to see pictures of our wedding to get a visual please email me rileytw@yahoo.com . all i can say is if you're looking for a friendly place, a home away from home, to have your event or just get away, this IS the place to stay! Rooms are cozy. outside is just beutiful. you can walk around, get your morning jog in if you need to. its just perfect! ted is amazing. the staff is amazing. A+++ all around. we didn't have $$ to hire a dj so we had all our songs on our ipods and asked our friends to bring their ipods and ted went out and got all the hook ups to make sure it worked with his system and it just worked out PERFECT. he had someone to run the ipod for our ceremony songs and it was just amazing how ev erything worked out. 10 THUMBS UP! STAY AT SIERRA SKY RANCH. oh and the FOOD!! is AMAZING! we had the bbq menu. their mashed potatoes are to die for!!!!!! and the ribs! yum! we didn't have one complaint from our 100 guests that were there. not one! A++++ :D

Dire !!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/28/08
Quite the worst accomodation experience in an otherwIse excellent 14 day trip in California - not shabby chic - just shabby !! We were shown to our room - headboard resting against the wall, bedside table rocking to say the least -exterior door curtain hanging at a very jaunty angle against the door - no shades on any of the corridor light bulbs- holes in the wall, plasterwork exposed, handyman's tools left with paint scrapings at door, gaps above the door .....wash hand basin just too rustic for words, no air conditioning, grumpy staff- no night lights to guide you back to the room after darkness.....' fridge smelly and all for $109 - the worst experience of accomodation in a long time...grateful for a bed but a night sleeping in the cat would have been more salubrious!!!

Redefining aboveand beyond.
By Nicole, 02/12/08
We stayed there on the last night of our honeymoon before going home. I'm not sure if they want us to mention specifically what they did because it was SO above and beyond they prolly don't want half the country asking for it. Suffice to say that they were the perfect end to an aleady perfect wedding/honeymoon. I love the attention to detail at the property like fountains, wind chimes, swings, etc. You can tell it is well loved by the owner. It was very peaceful and relaxing. We will definitely be returning for anniversaries.

Wonderful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/21/08
My friend and I spent a weekend at the ranch and had the most wonderful time. The people are wonderful and very helpful. The are willing to have long discussions of the ranch history and you basically have full roam over the whole house and grounds. The rooms are small but we loved that about it because it was so authentic. We are looking forward to our next trip and adventures at the ranch. Don't forget to eat at the resturant for dinner. The grilled artichoke and the flat iron steak with twice baked potatoe were spectacular!!! Thank you Sierra Sky Ranch for making our trip wonderful.

serene retreat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/13/08
The Sky Ranch was an authentic, rustic experience for the entire family. The rich history of the place can be seen everywhere! The location is easily found off of the 41 going to Yosemite. We were allowed free reign of the place, including beautiful meadows, a creek, and the main house. The staff were very friendly and helpful in every way. The rooms in the front were lovely, but small. If you have a family, I would recommend the family guites in the bunkhouse.
