Description

These ivy-covered units in downtown Carmel are available for short or weekly stays, and the accommodations and service are top-notch. Flowers and shrubbery literally cover the outsides of all the units and rooms come decked out in mostly wooden neo-modern decor. The rooms are large, which makes it a great place to relax and still be close to everything in Carmel. Fully tiled bathrooms and the marvelous foliage outside make for the highlights of these comfortable units.

Lovin' it in Carmel!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 6/2/06
My husband and I happened upon the Fireplace Inn and Briarwood Inn about 4 years ago. We were staying at the Cypress Inn and wanted to make reservations for the Concorsia the following August. We visited nearly all the inns in Carmel and were pleasantly surprised when Carol phoned us one evening to tell us she could give us a room. (this entire town is fully booked and the prices triple!; Briarwood increases only slightly!) We have never had any experience at the Briarwood that was less than terrific! Our room (we like the small one!) is clean, comfortable and the staff delightful and very accomodating. We have used the office microwave and even had a breakfast tray delivered to our room. We visit Carmel 2 - 3 time a year, for up to 5 weeks. This August we are taking friends with us and are very excited to show them around "our home away from home!" I cannot imagine anyone not loving the Briarwood and am disappointed to read the other comments! Perhaps what the others needed was the "big city" atmosphere to go with their attitudes! We still love it and can't wait to return!

Most beautiful room in Carmel
By toomany, 9/7/05
We stayed in the penthouse suite at Briarwood for 4 days, being a frequent visitor to Carmel this penthoue suite was by far the most beautiful room I have yet to stay in. It's actually like staying in your own luxury apartment, wonderful fireplace, beautiful fully stocked kitchen, two queen bedrooms and even two bathrooms. This suite was huge and we were even able to bring our small dog George, who absolutely loved the the place as much as his mommy and daddy did. We paid approx. $400.00 a night but considering the accommodations the price was quite reasonable. The only draw back to our stay was a somewhat pushy inn-keeper, she had a problem with our bringing our breakfast to our room (hey we had a dog who couldn't accompany us the breakfast room), and demanded that we ourselves return the tray so the maid would not be inconvenienced (this even irked my husband who never gets irritated) when we stopped by for the evening sherry she didn't want us to take the glasses to the room because we might spill on the rug (hey this room has a full kitchen, plenty of opportunity to spill), the kicker was the phone call we received on our last day, telling us to either close the windows or turn off the heater, excuse me but when I'm paying over $400.00 a night I think I should be able to heat/cool in whatever manner I choose. Enough with the negatives, a beautiful room nevertheless.

What a quaint little place!! the hostess was devoted to her job , she recomended everything from making dinner reservations to giving us hints about how to avoid trafic. The room we had was soo cute. And the Inn is in the perfect spot, I think we only used our car once otherwise everything was within walking distance. You also get a wonderfull breakfast every morning. We just can't wait to go again!
