Perfect preparation for interview at UCO
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/2/11
I was asked by UCO to stay at this B and B during my stay in Edmond because it is adjacent to the university. I balked at first by the price per night, but then after checking other hotels realized they offered so much more for nearly the same money. I stayed 2 nights in the Garden Room. After a 13 hour drive to get there, when I arrived I was a mess physically and emotionally. When I entered the room, soothing music was playing. The tub (not a jacuzzi - wish it had been) beckoned me. A variety of mineral salts and skin and hair products were right there. In the armoire were 2 fabulous robes (I must buy one) that are comparable to any 5 star hotel. I soaked away all my stress that first night. The bed was very comfortable and the room was just beautiful - a back to nature feel with a canopy of natural wooden twines. The service was wonderful. I was able to choose breakfast in my room or in the dining room. This is a family B & B and they made me feel at home. I was the only guest on morning 1 and ate breakfast with company of the owner - a delightful woman. Day 2, I asked for breakfast in the room and it was WONDERFUL, but this was after I went down to dining room and spent about 30 minutes with the cooks drinking coffee. (Early riser). The breakfast on day 2 - Waffles with cream cheese and strawberries and a vanilla sauce - - heavenly!!!!!! It also included an egg, sausage, cheese scramble that was wonderful. I didn't like the scrambled eggs on day one, but I enjoyed very much the attention the owner gave me as we sat together - strangers who were together and I didn't feel like an outsider. They drew me in for just a few days and cared for me. The staff was wonderful -- did everything but tuck me in. The music gadget was a bit difficult to figure out, but I loved choices. Perhaps staff should take a few minutes to explain how to operate it --- I played their regular CD and also found options for ocean sounds. By the time I left for first day of interview, I was prepared physically and emotionally. Anyone visiting UCO for a job interview should definitely stay here! Oh, and I intend to buy one of those robes!!!!

Magical!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/18/09
We just got back from our 2nd visit to The Arcadian Inn. We went there to celebrate my birthday and stayed in the Captain's Quarters for 2 nights. We truly enjoyed our stay. They pay excellent attention to the little details that make the stay extra special. My husband and I have stayed at several B & B's and by far this is my favorite. This is the only B & B I've stayed at where they bring your breakfast to your room and they provide robes so you don't have to rush around and get ready. The breakfast was absolutely delicious and the peppermint towels they bring with breakfast are magnificent. I love their jacuzzi tubs and little house amenities they provide! The jacuzzi tub for two is one of my requirements for a romantic and pampered setting (I don't have one at home). We stayed on a Friday and Saturday day night and never heard a sound except for the storm on friday night (Oklahoma thunderstorms....need I say more). We had excellent service from all the staff. Whenever we needed anything we just dialed a number and it showed up at our door. On Saturday, I asked if they could get us new linens, the table set for dinner in our room and some more teas for the Keurig coffee/tea maker (which I loved) while we went to lunch. They said absolutely and just wanted us to let them know when we were ready so they didn't bother us. They came in and completely cleaned and reset the room with all the little details and even set the lighting and had romantic music playing when we returned. It was like we arrived for the first time all over again. My husband liked the curtains around the bed because he likes to sleep in and I'm an early riser. I enjoyed getting up and reading knowing I wouldn't be bothering him because I just pulled the curtains shut around the bed and it helped block out most of the light. The highlight for me was relaxing in the jacuzzi tub with the foaming mineral salts I purchased from them (they give you some of the regular mineral salts, but I wanted the foaming ones), a glass of wine and a good book. It was perfection! The only things I saw that people might could view as a negative was that the room is a bit small (we viewed it as cozy and intimate) and it is a bit hard to get in and out of the bed for the person sleeping on the side closest to the wall. Also there is no door on the bathroom, only a decorative curtain to pull across, but it didn't inconvience us. I also agree that their prices are rather high, but they do have different prices for different rooms, which is nice. You can also do a no frills package and that takes the price down some. Overall, we truly enjoyed ourselves and we came back feeling refreshed, rekindled, and pampered!

Overpriced and Noisy
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/22/07
My husband and I recently spent our 10 year anniversary in their Crown Jewel Villa. We were led to believe that even though it is in the heart of Edmond, it would be very quiet and peaceful. There was an incredible amount of road noise. At 11 pm we asked to be moved to another room, but there was nothing else available. At 2 am my husband went to the drugstore to get us a sleep aid so that we could make it through the night. We told the manager about our night when we checked out. He did not offer to take anything off the $239 dollar a night rate that we had already paid, just said he was sorry. We e-mailed the owner with our complaints and asked him to consider making an adjustment. He basically said that we got to enjoy the room from 6pm, when we checked in, until 11pm, when we first complained. He said that the room had been cleaned for us and that we were served our breakfast and enjoyed our romance package (which we had paid an additional $50 for) and that he saw no reason to refund any of our money. He did suggest that we spend a night in their Guthrie location, which would be much quieter. Those rooms also run about $300 a night and he did not offer any discount on a night there to compensate for our sleepless night at the Arcadian. We also run a small business and routinely refund or replace in order to be sure our clientele is happy after doing business with us. I would never return to their B&B and would strongly discourage anyone else from staying there, unless they like to over pay and lie awake until dawn.

not all it's cracked up to be
By Cara, 1/6/07
After hearing about all the prizes this inn has won and how great it was we expected a lot of the Arcadian. However, of the three B&B's we have stayed in this was the least impressive. We stayed in the Emerald nights room. The bed was terrible, saggy and hard. The traffic sounds all night outside the window kept us awake and we could hear everything in the other rooms. Breakfast was just gross. The people seemed friendly and the big tub was nice but that was it.

Absolutely Perfect!
By be warned, 4/11/06
My husband took me there for our anniversary and even though we live right across town, it felt like we were miles away. There were so many special little touches that made it so wonderful. The rooms were amazing, the breakfast was to die for, and the overall experience was one I'll never forget. If you ever get the chance, we recommend you go there. We can't wait to go back next year!
