Terrible experience with staff
I called this company to inquire about one of their rentals. The website said that it was close to the start of the Appalachian Trail and that there was a seasonal creek on the property. I called the day prior and asked about how close they were to the trail and he said that he had no idea. I asked if there was water in the stream, since we were looking for a place for our 2 year old to be able to wet her feet, and he had no idea if there was a stream on the property and that if the owner said so, then he supposed there was. The website advertises as follows (copied and pasted): "STAY 3 NIGHTS PAY FOR 2 OR STAY 4 NIGHTS PAY FOR 3, STAY 5 NIGHTS PAY FOR 4. This offer is not valid during our peak season July & October!! Christmas or Thanksgiving or on cabins with $99.00 Special." I booked 3 nights expecting to pay for two and he said that the special was not valid on memorial day weekend or some other "major holidays". The website mentions specific holidays, and Memorial Day is not one of them. This was on the Tuesday prior to the weekend, and the cabin was open Fri - Mon. If we booked Sat and Sunday, the chances that someone would stay there for only Friday night were slim to nothing, yet he rudely insisted that there was nothing he could do because those were the rules. You would think that the owners might be willing to negotiate rather than leave it sitting vacant all weekend, but he refused to contact the owner to ask if we could work something out and said that there was no one else to talk to besides him. When I indicated that the website advertising was misleading and worthy of complaint, he said that since I was threatening him, he would cancel my reservation and hung up on me. The owners might do well to have someone more informative and customer-oriented than this guy. Makes me wonder how helpful he would be if there was a problem while you were staying at one of these properties.
