Avenair Mountain Cabin Rentals, Blue Ridge

What an amazing place, beautiful close to river so you can fish or tube, or just stay at cabin and play in hottub. Will be back Loved everytning about this visit. Service was great.

Trust me...there are several other cabin rental companies in this same area that FAR exceed this company!

We rented the Hibernation Heaven cabin. It was horrible. The DSL was out (and had been for some time according to the guest book), no firewood, the dishwasher did not work and the water was UNDRINKABLE. We had to go to town and buy gallons of water so we could cook and drink. We were all afraid to take a shower. It also offered a beautiful view, of a highway. After handwashing all the dishes we could they charged us $150.00, again for having a broken dishwasher! An aboslute waste of money, stay away!

I called this company to inquire about one of their rentals. The website said that it was close to the start of the Appalachian Trail and that there was a seasonal creek on the property. I called the day prior and asked about how close they were to the trail and he said that he had no idea. I asked if there was water in the stream, since we were looking for a place for our 2 year old to be able to wet her feet, and he had no idea if there was a stream on the property and that if the owner said so, then he supposed there was. The website advertises as follows (copied and pasted): "STAY 3 NIGHTS PAY FOR 2 OR STAY 4 NIGHTS PAY FOR 3, STAY 5 NIGHTS PAY FOR 4. This offer is not valid during our peak season July & October!! Christmas or Thanksgiving or on cabins with $99.00 Special." I booked 3 nights expecting to pay for two and he said that the special was not valid on memorial day weekend or some other "major holidays". The website mentions specific holidays, and Memorial Day is not one of them. This was on the Tuesday prior to the weekend, and the cabin was open Fri - Mon. If we booked Sat and Sunday, the chances that someone would stay there for only Friday night were slim to nothing, yet he rudely insisted that there was nothing he could do because those were the rules. You would think that the owners might be willing to negotiate rather than leave it sitting vacant all weekend, but he refused to contact the owner to ask if we could work something out and said that there was no one else to talk to besides him. When I indicated that the website advertising was misleading and worthy of complaint, he said that since I was threatening him, he would cancel my reservation and hung up on me. The owners might do well to have someone more informative and customer-oriented than this guy. Makes me wonder how helpful he would be if there was a problem while you were staying at one of these properties.

September 2009 - I stated at Avenair Cabins for my birthday, booking the reservation on line was cumbersome and confusing, in regards to their deposit, not to even mention the ridiculously long lease. I checked in after hours and was left a map that didn't list mileage from point to point and the cabin was about 30 miles from the rental office. I did have a wonderful time at the cabin and it was absolutely beautiful. However, a week after I checked out I received a call saying that the Hot tub cover had been damaged, and a picture of a ripped corner of a hot tub, could have been any hot tub. I requested additional pictures and was told that noone would be able to get out there any time soon to take pictures but could expect them the following week. I don't believe that I did the damage and was very frustrated to get an email saying that "per our conversation" my card was being charged with no mention of the additional proof. I honestly feel swindled and would never do business with them again.
