Very Disgusting
By Diane, 12/31/09
I stopped at one in the morning, desperate tired from driving all day, I was only in the room for 1 and 1/2 hours before something starting eating me alive under the sheets, I went the the desk and told the woman I was going to have to leave because I was getting chewed up, and she says, "oh I was afraid of that". What in the world????? Well anyway she did not give me any of my $60.00 back even though she had an idea, that the room was disgusting! So I left and went to Comfort Inn in Florence which was nice and comfortable. Please drive the extra distance and do not stay here.

The place is dirty
By denise, 09/21/09
We always stoped at the south of the border as a kid and it was fun and everything was clean. I stoped in while going home from fla and the Bathrooms are Nasty! It looks like a place where a hooker would go to get a pice of Ass and it smelled the workers walked in the womens room Male worker while you were going pee. Writting all over the walls. This is not a place that i would take children it looks and feels like a little hore shop. The gift shops are all run down the little area they have for the kids is all run down and looks verry dangours. I cannot understand why it looks like this due to all the money that they spend on the signs. This place also looks like it is a little drug ring. UNSAFE FOR CHILDREN I WOULD NOT STAY OR STOP IN AGAIN please put a inprovement in this trap so people woud stop again and have as much fun as i did as a kid in the 80's DO NOT STOP GO ON PAST If you have to pee and are going north go a little ways to the reast area going south also . The Flea Market what a joke also. A verry up set person.

Horrible Place to Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/15/09
We spent one night on our return trip to NJ. The place was horrible and in need of updating. Mold and fungus in bathroom and on ceiling tiles, dirty out of date curtins and furnishings. Bugs and smells. Bedspreads were deplorable. Pillows were shrunk from using a dryer. No room amenities were provided (coffee, dryer, etc.) They advertise on 95 going north and south for miles. Their brochure uses the word luxurious. It is so far from the opposite. This is the most disgusting motel/hotel I have ever stayed in. The outdoor surroundings were none the better. Spend your time and money elsewhere. I gave them a one to post this rating. They don't even deserve that

We would not go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/10/09
We were looking forward to our stay at South of the Border all through our trip to Florida as we planned to spend two nights there on our way back north. WHAT a mistake! No wifi, no coffee in the rooms, no shampoo and cockroaches and carolina water bugs in the rooms. The outdoor pool is filthy. We left after one night and moved south to another motel in Dillon which has all above except the bugs. Some of the staff is polite but more of them act like we were getting in their way. We complained and were offered a small discount but we felt we should get full discount for the cockroaches. This motel and recreation park will not last without a full makeover.

tourist reviewing campground
By Brooks, 07/30/06
I usually stay in the campground on my way to Florida. it meets my needs for utilities, and is far away from I 95 that I don't hear traffic, but is close to a rail road, and hear trains all night. the campground is maintained well, and the bath houses are clean, but a little on the small side. very inexpensive place to stay. many tourist trap shops to visit if you get bored. but recommend getting there by 7 pm because it starts filling up rather quickly after this time. they have some pull through sites available for people towing cars. and also back in sites for people that don't need pull through. nothing extravigant, but meets your needs for passing through to and from Florida.

Excellent
By SharonJ, 04/05/06
The rooms are great, room services is great. There is so much to do you won't even have to leave the resort! There's and amusement park, gas station, resurants, gift shops, pool and jacuzze. And tons of other things to do!! Its good for families and newly weds, singles and couples!! The location is great its maybe 2 - 3 miles from Dillon, South Carolina. It's a great place to go get away from the rush of life, and if your a business person like me, you'd just want to get from in front of the computer and away form all the papers an into bed!!
