Noccalula Falls Campground, Gadsden

My girlfriend and I took my 5 yr. old son today. Our visit was nice and enjoyable but we were dissapointed to learn the snakes are no longer there! We were looking forward to the snake exhibit especially my eager son. We asked a young caretaker where the snakes were and he blamed the mayor for taking them out. He said 50-75 people a day ask him about the snakes and he definitely was irritated himself that they were no longer there. It appeared all the snake tanks were now housing birds and lots of chickens. And many outside cage exhibits contained nothing at all and had signs posted saying "Coming Soon" with water features or something like that. But from what we had heard from the caretaker, we wondered what is coming soon; maybe more chickens! We did however enjoy the other animals in the park like the deer we hand fed, the lion and observing the bucks resting in their stable with their velvet covered antlers. The covered bridge w/fish, train ride and schoolhouse church were fun but I wish I had had my son wear tennis shoes. The fine gravel from the hilly terrain trails kept getting inside his sandals slowing us down. He desperately needed a water but all the drink machines were out of water and the water fountains were broken. He ended up with a sports drink and liked it so that wasn't too bad except for the sugar factor. We live a short distance away and would love to visit more if there was a little more to see and do.

Had a wonderful time in Gadsden. Wooded campround with full hookups, clean bathhouses, nice pool. Nice park with falls, gardens and small zoo next door. Loved this campground.
