San Marcus Inn - Swing Your Partners!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/14/05
Just back from Palm Springs, and lemme tell you, the is a FASCINATING place to stay and play!
Found that my three-day Palm Springs conference was tres boring:
Q: How many vulture capitalists can dance on the head of a pin?
A: Who the hell cares?
Crusing the net brought me to many clothing optional resorts in the area, for the weather was perfect, and we both like the freedom of nudity. Two were NASCA members (NASCA is the alliance of swing clubs which includes Seattle's posh New Horizons , so I looked on TripAdvisor and other places for reviews.
Aquafinity looked OK, but the San Marcus Inn did as well, seemed nicer and was less spendy. So, talked it over, and booked two nights at the San Marcus, in the town of Desert Hot Springs, six-and-a-half miles north of the Ten and a very easy drive from PSP.
(Note: Watch out for Big Dips In The Road, at the Stop Signs, in the main drag of the town.. kinda like upside down speed bumps and VERY effective to get folks to slow down.)
The (thirteen) rooms within a high adobe wall are basic yet clean, with a microwave and minifridge, shower/no tub... but with hot and cold (well, almost all hot) naked couples [[sexing here, there and everywhere]], who cares if there's only 70 channels on the cable and only one porn channel?
The pool was nice, the hot tub was big and nicer (had to be for all the naked people in it), the (dry) sauna small but cozy, and the small, well-groomed lawn adequate to soixante-neuf upon, under the stars or the midday sun, while other folks broiled on lounge chairs just feet away. I will never smell coconut oil again without remembering the sweet, brown body of one particularly scrumptious woman with Corvette-red nails, and how tempting she was to us both.
Two big fridges (checked daily) hold the overflow of groceries from other guests who just left, and there's often booze left over (hey, it's California, they sell liqour in Von's Safeway, it's cheap) so don't go down to the grocery store until you've checked in... and the big gas grill in the outdoor kitchen and the indoor kitchen (both shared by guests with everything you need) makes cooking a delight.
Oh, yes, free breakfast stuff available 0700-1030, and not just the sterile prepackaged sweet roll of 'Continental breakfast' elsewhere. No Eggs Benedict, but biscuits and gravy, naked, are much yummier.
Stephanie and the staff are friendly, courteous, and will politely explain what the rules and boundaries are (for example NO CAMERAS outside your room). This is just a general extension of the rule: What Happens In Palm Springs, Stays In Palm Springs. Therefore, I will not kiss and tell. (Telling could take many, many hours to tell everything...)
However, rest assured that you can chat up a couple or a crowd, find a couple to your liking, and then either disappear into your/their room, play on the couches in the pole-dancing/video/fireplace lounge, or disappear into the Big Bed.
People came in from the community, drove in from LA (120 miles out I-10), and flew in to PSP Airport from all over. You can stay elsewhere, dip your toe in the water, stuff your clothing in a locker and visit for just the day ('day pass' rate) or night ('night pass rate') without overnighting there, but it's nice to have a place to close the door and sleep it off... and then return to play at the Crack of Noon.
We want to go back.
