Boardwalk Beach Resort, Myrtle Beach

Well to begin with the room looked like it was falling apart and a child was trying to remadel it almost stepped on a razor blade on the floor which was oily feeling the bathroom floor had not been swept thoroughly on the day of check out the housekeeping was knocking and trying to get in our room with their key every 15min the the parking is not suitable to handle the amount or rooms they have we parked in what we thought was the parking allocated for the hotel and our vehicle was towed for a ridiculous fee of 160.00 the employees nor the manager was of any help nor were they concerned i will never go back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO STARS!!!!!!!!!!

The location was great and the staff was nice as they could be. The rooms were clean but really do need some updating. The front door looked like it could be opend easaly if someone tride hard enough. But other than that we had a grate time. So be aware about your personal stuff if the door looks faunky.

I just returned home after a 6 day stay at the Boardwalk. We made our reservations in April, for 4 days in August in the south tower, ocean front, room type 7(over $225 per day). My girlfriend and I decided to go down a couple days early, so we booked a king size bedroom($125 per day) ocean view, in the north tower for the first 2 days of our trip. So my review is for 2 rooms(actually 3,,,i'll explain). We arrived on friday, check-in was very smooth, and headed for our room in the north tower. First off, elevator has no a/c or fan, it was like walking into an oven. The elevator floor was covered in water, and it smelled like mold. We were on the 4th floor(483), the first thing we noticed, the room smelled horrible! It smelled like an old, nasty, wet, dirty, stinking tennis shoe! Luckily we had lysol with us,but even the lysol would only kill the odor of the room for a few hours. The room was kinda small, but we figured we could make it there for a couple days, so we didn't complain. The king size bed had a huge dip in the mattress, the sliding glass door didn't have a lock or latch, there was a stick jammed in the sliding door with 483 written on it, i'm not making this up! The bathroom was fairly clean, the TV was ok, the 2 chair's on the balcony were in terrble shape, there were no extra plug-ins in the room, so we had to make coffee in the bathroom. I tried to use the iron to get the wrinkles out of a shirt, the iron didn't work! Ocean view means, you stand on the balcony, lean over the rail, look to the left and you can see the ocean. So, after 2 days in the north tower it was time to move to our reserved room, another couple had drove down to stay with us for the next 4 days. This room was in the south tower, 2 rooms, 2 tv's, 2 bathrooms, kitchen, great room for 2 couples to have some privacy. We all walked into the room (820), first off... the door was swollen shut. I had to put my shoulder against the door to open it. The room was a nice size, it looked old, it didn't stink, kitchen area was not bad, nice view from the balcony, the bathrooms were very small, the jacuzzi tub was nasty, the balcony safety rail was broke. Then we noticed the TV's! One room had a 17" tv, something like you might buy for a kids bedroom, the 2nd room had a 19" zenith beat all to hell, i'm guessing probably 25 years old, the remote didn't work, it was so fuzzy i couldn't tell what i was even looking at. That was the final straw! After 2 days in the stink hole room and now a tv that wouldn't work and a dirty jacuzzi, i was pissed! I called front desk, told them either bring me 2 tv's that were made in the last 10 years that i could see, or i was coming to the desk to get my money. The manager told me to come get a key and look at another room, so i did. This room was in the main tower, very nice, but not what we had paid for, only 1 bathroom and 2 beds, not the privacy type room we had picked. So another trip back to the front desk, the manager gave me another key. This key was for room (1430) main tower, great room... everything we had paid for. Beautiful view of the ocean, everything in the room worked as it should, the room smelled fresh, the kitchen area was nice, even the pull down murphy bed was nice, the jacuzzi tub was a little stained only negative thing i could say about this room. This was the room we expected for $225.00 per night. So, after staying at the Boardwalk for 6 days, in 2 different rooms, and seeing a total of 4 rooms. My advice would be, if you're going to stay at the Boardwalk, ONLY book the main tower. DO NOT book the north or south tower, they are old, run down rooms that stink! I'll also add this. The restaurant in the north tower is terrible, the food is bad and over priced...and i found a black hair in my french fries. The laundry area in the north tower is very nasty. Don't expect clean towels before 4pm each day. The pool and lawn area are very nice.Limited parking,expect to park in the parking deck.

Once arriving at the Boardwalk Beach Resort it took no time for my family and I to realize that the website was filled with misleading information. Each summer my grandmother, my mother, one of my friends, and myself travel to Myrtle Beach. We normally stay at the Landmark Resort, but this year we just wanted to stay somewhere different. We searched for a hotel suitable for our budget and standards for weeks before choosing to make reservations at the Boardwalk Beach Resort. The photos and information provided on the website lead you to believe that this is a newer hotel At least in the pictures this is how it looks, they must have been taken 10 years ago. Supposedly this hotel is located near the boardwalk, however the boardwalk ends way before and it is not located near the strip where all of the stores are. It also says that there are 10 pools total....I'm not sure where they are because we only saw MAYBE 5? We were told when we made our reservations that we could check in at 2pm, however after driving 4 hours when we got there we were told that we couldn't check in until 3pm now. So, in our hour that we had to waste before checking in we decided to walk across the street to the hotel to see the pools. That's all it took for us to decide that we would not be staying there, we didn't even give the room a chance to change our minds. The pools were small and lined around the edges and bottom with green and yellow 'stuff.' It was so crowded with chairs everywhere that you could barely walk around the pool area without tripping. Oh and the tanning area on the "lawn" is a joke, it is very small and doesn't appear to be taken care of very well. We walked back across the street to the lobby and told them that we would like our money back. They asked what was wrong and we told them that we were disappointed that the hotel was nothing like the advertisements and pictures. The refused to give our money back so we were all upset that we would have to stay there and we were all sitting in the car dreading our stay when I decided to go back in and ask if we could stay one night and get the rest of our money back. They once again refused to give our money back until another couple walked in and explained that there was a dirty bathing suit left in their room upon checking in, their door would not shut, and the sheets on the bed were dirty. I guess they decided that since we had heard the complaints of the other couple's room that they should give our money back or they knew they would be hearing from us again. The girl at the desk had no idea what she was doing, as we had to put the deposit on a credit card she had to credit the credit card part of the money back. She first charged my credit card $800 while trying to credit $200 something back to it, then she credited it back $400 and it was denied because so much activity was going on with the card. She then followed to tell us that we would have to call the credit card company ourselves to explain what was going on and try to get it fixed. She was not friendly and did not seem to care about her mistake. We were just happy to finally get our money back and go somewhere else! I would never recommend this hotel to anyone, nor would I ever go back there myself.

I read the reviews, I took a chance anyway. It started off with our room with no air conditioning. We called the for maintenance and when he got there he checked the breaker. I was on the balcony and the unit blew out a bunch of smoke which freaked me out and I ran to go inside the room which then I hit my knee hard on the sliding glass door. So we decided to change rooms due to no air and a smoke filled room. The next day we come back from the beach around 2:30 the room was already cleaned, we wanted to take a shower from being at the beach, there was no fresh towels. we had to wait 20 minutes for them. I tried telling the manager about our experiences and I felt that they just did not care. I will never recommend this hotel to anyone.

This place was nasty dirty. The room was very small and everything in the room needed to be replaced. The halls were dirty and smelly. The pillows were yellow and flat. And the sheets didnt even fit the bed. There was no phone in our room. People were lighting fireworks off thier balconies until 4am!! After three phone calls to the front desk from my cell -- nothing was done. The cafe was small and dirty also, and left much to be desired. The people next to us were cooking something that smelled terrible and because of the vent system our room smelled so bad we had to leave it. This was my first trip to Myrtle Beach and it may be my last. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE!!!! DONT STAY THERE!!!!

I find it incredible when I read things like "Beware" and "Deplorable" I have only ever stayed in the main tower at Boardwalk and have nothing but positive things to say about the rooms, the cleaning staff and the front counter reception. I do not doubt that the other reviewers had problems but I just do not get it - never had a problem with the place myself. In fact I sent my sister in law and her family there for summer vacation in 2009. They could not get the kids to leave the place because they were having so much fun. They are going to go back again next year to see all the sights they did not get to see as a result!! I have been going to Myrtle for years for golf holidays and since discovering Boardwalk 3 years ago I no longer bother going anywhere else. Look, it is not the Ritz Carlton by any means but for what it is going to cost you it is more than fair value. Go to Boardwalk, stay in the main tower, enjoy your vacation.

the rooms were stinky and the floor was dirty. the hallways and elevator smelled like urine. our ceiling leaked over our bathroom shower until maintenance came in to fix it. we were so glad he did because as soon as he touched it, the ceiling fell into the shower. we asked to be moved and was refused! never again will we ever stay at the boardwalk!

The location was great you can walk to everything.Plus its right on the beach.The pools were nice. You juss need to take a blow dryer & your own beach towels.The staff & cleaning people were very nice.This is a good place to stay(:

My family stayed here last year and had a horrible experience. First night it rained and water leaked into our room ruining our cell phones and soaking our clothes. They offered an upgrade(but no refund for our damaged phones), put us into a bigger room. Problem was the room was damp and musky. The pool was ok, but the lazy river was full of trash. The lady at the desk ws very rude. I would NOT recommed this dump.!
