Such a relaxing place!
My husband and I have stayed here several times and we love it because it's comfortable and relaxing.
Kirsten is so sweet and friendly, but she is also so discreet that you'll never see her if you don't want to. The rooms are very comfortable, uncluttered and serene. The common area has a nice fireplace, games, and wine and cheese in the evening. She puts coffee, muffins, bagels and yogurt out in the morning. A few months after we had our baby, we came here and ended up sleeping until 1:00 pm! It's that quiet! There are train tracks nearby but you don't even hear them after a while.
The town of Encinitas is walking distance, with Cardiff a little drive down the 101 to the south and La Costa a few miles north. Encinitas is laid-back and quirky with lots of fun places to shop, especially on the weekends when there's the Seaside Bazaar, a little swap meet. Have dinner at Cicciotti's (they have a piano bar) or Charlie's (on the water), get gifts and cards at Queen Eileen's, have a (mas fuerte) margarita at Las Olas, hang out at the new (and improved) Yogi's bar, and you DO NOT not miss the pizza and burgers at Besta Wan.
