4 reviews for Josephine Guest House, New Orleans
We came back, and might do again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/30/07
2 of us Brit's stayed here April '05 and returned April '07. We exhibited at the ISRI show at the Ernest Morial Exhibition Centre. First time round we found the Josephine on the web, second time we chose to return having enjoyed the first stay. Wonderful character to all the rooms, amazing furniture and particularly the chandeliers, brilliant selection of books in the lounge. Sure the place could do with a bit of TLC but maybe money is a bit tight for now since Katrina. We got a pretty good rate for our stay. We found Dan a charming and most interesting host, he is a genuine Cajun by descent. He gives great tips on dining and local events, the nearby Gulfstream Restaurant was recommended by him and is excellent with "the best rib eye ever!" Dan is massively knowledgable in general conversation and has some fascinating views on local and international affairs. The house is an antique from top to bottom, don't visit there if you want widescreen TV, room service and state of the art equipment. The location is great for downtown, especially when they get the Charles Street Streetcars running again after the flooding, they're on the case! We walked in each morning, a 15 minute stroll.

Late January 2006
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/20/07
We traveled from Chicago to New Orleans five months after Katrina to visit our college student and to assess the situation. We did not know anything about Josephine Guest House prior to booking the reservation. We were pleasantly surprised by how nice it was, especially after the devastation to the rest of the city by Hurricane Katrine. The facilities were very charming and clean with warm, welcoming hosts in a great location. The breakfasts were wonderful. The staff was unobtrusive but readily available. We look forward to staying there again during Jazz Fest 2007.

Best B&B in the The West
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/03/07
Incredible location...gorgeous and historic trappings...storied bedrooms and lavish lounging conditions. Dan Fusile runs a tight ship alright. When I took some Yankee friends from D.C. and Tacoma, WA down there they both swore off their Northern roots forever. The Josephine House is a wonderful place. That silly person below sort of gave himself away. We drink Scotch for breakfast at the Josephine...you want breakfast...go to the Quarter...you want fine living...go to the Josephine.

Moldy strawberries for breakfast
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 04/12/06
Worst breakfast I ever had in a B&B. It consisted entirely of juice, coffee, 32 cents worth of the kind of biscuits that come in a can, and a plate of moldy strawberries. When I complained calmly and politely about the mold, I expected that the host would become terribly embarrassed and apologize profusely. Instead of that, he became quite contemptuous of me and started popping them into his mouth one by one right in front of me, sucking on them to show me how delicious they were. The host was also upset with me because I wouldn't pet his dogs. I will never go back there, although it did have an excellent location and I did stay in a beautiful room.
