One of my favorites!

Linger Lodge is a restaurant I have been to many times and I will go back again and again! The restaurant if located directly on the Bradenton River and has wonderful view. The covered outdoor decks are perfect for the summer days free of bugs. Inside the restaurant is done in taxidermy. Someone I was with got the hush puppies which were the best ever! I got a grouper sandwich which was wonderful. The service was great. Couldn't have asked for a better place. Would recommend and will go again. Only negative things I think of are the parking lot which is dirt and the bathrooms really need remodeling.

It's a treasure.

What a unique place! It's old Florida. The food was wonderful and very well priced. The service was great. It's alittle hard to find. The GPS has to have 85th st ct east added to the address. Once you get there you will enjoy everything about Linger Lodge.

like an old movie

This place will send you back about 50 years to Old Florida. Much like the old Fish Camps, this place reeks of the 1950's. Try it just for fun -- not for your wedding anniversary -- and you won't be disappointed.

What happened to this Treasure?
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/19/08
The view is gorgeous, the river so peaceful. But the food and service is terrible. Ordered appetizer that never showed up; good placed on table cold. menu has been reduced significantly, many previous dinners, seafood, fish no longer on menu. Service was slow and inept. Had to ask for iced tea refill twice. What has happened to this treasure of the past? Will not take visitors there, ever again. Very sad.

Bring it Back
By Walter, 08/06/08
Having been born and raised in Sarasota I remember Linger Lodge when it used to be just a pavilion and a bar-b-que pit. When we moved into Bradenwoods Subdivision in 1983 we became regulars at Linger Lodge. We would eat there 2 to 3 times a month. The River Platter and Riverbottom Pie along with Franks stories and character keep the place a favorite of a lot of people. When Sen. Mike Bennett purchased Linger Lodge in 2005 things started to change. He did renovate by adding a covered deck, but unfortunately his ideas of what the spirit of Linger Lodge had become were way off. The first blunder was to start serving instant Tea instead of fresh brewed (that idea didn’t last long). Then he started playing with the menu (not good). We tried to stay loyal, but the food and service declined dramatically. We have not been back in several months. I understand that Linger Lodge is for sale and I hope some one buys it with the idea of restoring it to a place of uniqueness and old Florida that we had grown to love.

A great time!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/23/08
We just returned from a very nice dinner at Linger Lodge. After reading the previous reviews, we were expecting the worst! There were 6 of us. The service was great...someone came immediately and checked back with us frequently through the time we were there. Everyone's food was very good. The prices were excellent....drinks were half price...$1.50 for a glass of wine or a draft beer. It is not a gourmet restaurant...fried seafood and burgers mostly...but was very good and the atmosphere right on the river with wonderful moss draped trees all around and the funky decor inside was wonderful. We all agreed that each of us would go again.

Disapppointed...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/06/08
We moved to the Braden River 5 years ago and started going to Linger Lodge a couple of times a week. The food and service were very good at the time. We took all our visitng friends there as well...either by car or by boat. Going by boat is a wonderful experience..such a beautiful river and so many things to see along the way. Since it has changed hands, we have been there only twice. The service was poor and our favorite items were taken off the menu. Our burgers were dry and nothing tasted right. We decided to give it another try..so my little nephew could see all the interesting animals on display. The hostess was less than cordial...we had to wait..but no matter we walked the gounds and it was a beautiful day. We returned to the hostess station only to be told that the servers were "slammed" and they had no extra highchairs...only two..and they would not be available for a long while. Meanwhile there were several empty tables in each section..we wanted the porch...but she was not going to seat us. There were several large parties being seated before us..and she seemed to have no interest in helping us to a table..even though we had a toddler and a 5 year old waiting to eat. Needless to say..we told her we would go elsewhere and she seemed totally oblivious of losing us as customers. I did call the manager later that day..only to be told they would send vouchers and tried to make excuses for the hostess' bad behavior. Of course, no vouchers ever arrived. I might add..that many of my neighbors on the river have stopped going there as well..lousy food being one reason. So sad it was a great place to meet our frinds and view our beautiful surroundings. We are so lucky to live on the Braden River..too bad the new owners of Linger Lodge do not feel the same way.

horrible
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/12/07
drove 4 hours to take friends here to dinner last night I had been here severaL YEARS AGO AND LOVED IT. did not know it changed hands. served us rancet shrimp and a steak i couldn't even chew, it was so tough. had to ask 4 times to see the road grill menu and had to request rolls which were the only thing we ate. at no point did anyone apologize or seem to care that the food was terrible.huge dissapointment!!! If the staff had seemed to care and offer some kind words I would have felt less strong. bring frank back!!!

Old Florida at it's best. Don't go if you're looking for fancy. Fancy it isn't. Great view of the river and birds. Food was very good. Fried Green tomatoes are a must have. A great surprise. The gumbo is the best I ever had. The Red Fish sandwich was excellent, another member of the party tried the Red Fish Rubean. Didn't care for the fish with the cheese and sauce. Beer was ice cold. Nice background music to relax by. Fun and different.
