The Moorings Village, Islamorada

My wife and I have visited the Moorings over 4 times over the last 4 years with our children and granddchildren, each time more memorable than the previous. The property is hugely photogenic and romantic -- a throw back to an earlier Florida, the one I remember growing up as a kid in Miami in the 50's. The Moorings sits right on the beach. We have stayed on cute and well appointed 20's style bungalows and cottages, some with as many as three bedrooms. The entire property sits on white sand, surrounded by coconaut trees. When we stay at the Moorings, my wife and I feel that we are in another world, the one of Florida that has not changed. The rooms have all the expected amenities (a/c, radio/ tv/ phones,free videos, kitchen; very clean bathrooms, etc.); the beds and furnishings are comfortable and have a South Seas/ Florida Keys motif. Across the road within walking distance you return to civilization, with several world class restaurants in the immediate area and plenty of ameneties in terms of stores and shopping facilities. We will celebrate our 37th Anniversary there this December and will continue to return as long as it remains an oasis of calm and beauty, and a reminder of old Florida and the Keys.
