White Sands Inn, Marathon

Four couples booked months in advance for this stay. We stayed next door last year and the rooms were filthy! So we toured these rooms with the owner and felt good about the trip. We were a day late because one of our couples had bike trouble twice therefore forcing us to stay in Ft. Lauderdale one night. We called the resort several times checking in and they said it was all OK and to take care and arrive safe. They charged all 4 couples full price for the night we did not show up, which was beyond our control. It is not like we did not try and get there. I am self-employed and we give people breaks all the time. The one coule who had the bike trouble paid out $500 for the trouble and almost had a serious accident. Just make sure when you book with these people you get there one way or another! They said they could have rented our rooms for the night we wre not there. Their establishment was not even full. And we did not get clean sheets, clean towels until we asked, or checked on in any way until they wanted us to pay. Never will we go back there. Our blinds in the room did not work to block the outside. Layed back attitude is nice but kickin people when they are down is not cool. Will not go back. Vicki Lowery

Reserved a room for 2 nights. Arrived at the inn and there was no one in the office to check us in...it was only 6:00 p.m. It was like a self-service. There was a note on the counter telling us are room # and the key was in the room and that they would check us in later. We never saw anyone in the office all weekend and no one came and left a note on our door to check in or fill any paperwork out. We never got our towels replaced the whole weekend, never changed the bed or emptied the garbage. In plain terms, they never checked on us at all. The stove and oven were filthy in the kitchen and the room looked like at one time had water damage by the looks of the walls.
