Don't stay at this place
The owner, Steve Hunt, describes his place as a lakeside resort. That's a far cry from what it really is - a place with a nice exterior but an interior that hasn't been updated for decades. The towels were stained and mismatched. The windows were dirty. The couch had years of grime on it. All of the furniture and applicances were worn and dated. Although described as private, you could hear the freeway from the house. The so called "private lake" is a shared lake with other houses on it, and construction across the lake EVERY DAY on a large house being built.
The exterior of the place is lovely. But this place is not worth the rate. The interior is dated and worn. The kitchen -- 70s decor -- with cabinets so small that dinner plates make it impossible to close one of the cabinets. One of the drawers from the kitchen was missing. The kitchen sink had loads of rust. There's a large crack on the floor that runs the length of the house. Pretty much everything -- from the coffee maker to the cutlery -- was stuff that wouldn't probably would not sell at a garage sale. Hardly a resort experience.
We've been coming to Hawaii for years. There are many nice places to stay on the island of Kauai, but this is not one of them.
