Lake Metigoshe State Park, Bottineau

When you're surrounded by hills, forest and lakes you'll wonder if you're still in North Dakota. This is a large park with MANY private camping spots, both primitive and modern. There's good access not only to Lake Metigoshe, but several smaller lakes where motorized boats aren't allowed. The best part was a FREE guided canoe trip. The Park provided canoe's, life jackets, paddles, instruction and an hour-long guided trip on School Section Lake. There is a boat ramp, docks, swimming beach, interpretive programs, picnic areas and all the other things you'd expect. I don't think there is any lake-front camping, but that helps keep the waterfront available for everybody to use.
