Avoid this hotel

This hotel is to be avoided. Generally, the staff have a couldn't care less attitude. The hotel's in house marketing team, aimed at selling time shares, or discounted room rates at various hotels throught the world through an organization called Holiday Systems International, are ascerbic and phlegmatic. A refusal to accept their "generous" offers would probably turn into a very nasty show of demeaning, infantile behaviour. In short, a very unpleasant experience. I left this hotel feeling very angry.
Oh my gosh... what a disaster! I never thought in my wildest dreams that a resort could be so misrepresented. We had family travel half the way around the world to meet at this resort... it was a disaster!! The resort itself is old and in need of renovation, the pools were not heated. There were no children's facilities at all, the rooms were worse than budget. We moved after two days.
I'm a frequent traveler and I've visit a lot of resort, hotels, RV parks and many others, but NEVER been so UNCOMFORTABLE as when i staid in MAYAN SEA GARDEN MAZATLAN.
It has a VERY BAD attention to every one of your needs, they even can be RUDE, only 25% of rooms has ocean view all rest has park yard view, if you are traveling with family, rooms could be smaller and less comfortable that you think, bad odor when you arrive to the room is really a bad sign, plumber installation really bad, if you're thinking to take a bath tube shower be prepared to a dinning room shower to, cause drain may cause a flow.
If you have any vehicle, own or rental forget the night life at least you are agree to park out side the resort into a lot for construction.
Food is not so bad, if you are in weight reduction plan.
Pools are good
So BEWARE to stay in.
After reading many reviews of the Mayan Sea Garden, I was very worried, but once we checked in and started the vacation, I was pleasantly surprised. Yes, there is somewhat of an "ant" problem, and yes, the second bedroom was horrible and would have been torture on anyone who had to sleep in it, but all-in-all, those were the worst things about the resort itself.
Everything else couldn't have been more perfect for us. Now, mind you, it was my roommate and I who went. I certainly wouldn't recommend it as a romantic getaway. There were many families with children there, but if you don't mind a little splashing in the pool and some noise, then it's a great place.
RECOMMENDATIONS: I do have a couple of recommendations. First, when you get to the airport, go for the shuttle. The cabs are $30 USD and the shuttle is $7.50 USD. We were not told that you had to purchase a roundtrip ticket in order to get a shuttle BACK to the airport so make sure you purchase that when you arrive. We had to cab it back and it cost us. I don't think the shuttle that we took was in any way affiliated with the Mayan Sea Garden because this woman Alicia got on the shuttle with us and talked us into going to a timeshare seminar at the Pueblo Bonito. I wasn't interested at first, but the things she offered us were too good to pass up. She gave us three $50 USD certificates totalling 1,500 pesos to put towards dinner and drinks at either of the Pueblo Bonito resorts, she gave us two certificates worth $40 USD each to go to Stone Island, and she gave us a certificate for a Mexican Fiesta that was an all you can eat and drink party. The only problem with that one is, although she TOLD us the parties are on Tues. and Sat., during the off-season the parties are only on Saturdays so we were not able to go. Also, if you get a Stone Island certificate, tell her you want your certificate to include the activities (banana ride and dune buggy). The horses on that island seem like they would carry fleas and ticks so I wouldn't recommend that.
When we went to our Pueblo Bonito timeshare seminar, we played good husband, bad wife (yes, my roommate is a man). I was so witchy that the guy just let us go after about 20 mins. and we picked up our certificates and left.
The beach at the resort had a ton of jellyfish on it, but since I'm not a beach person, I stayed at the pool and that was perfect for me.
The grounds were lovely but you can't stay outdoors 24/7! Our room In the Coral Tower was so noisy that we had to wear ear plugs to sleep. It was like sleeping under your kitchen exhaust fan! Fortunately we had a remodeled room so the furnishings were ok but very moldy smelling. We also had a bad ant problem in the bathroom and kitchen and we were on the 7th floor! Every food item had to be kept in the fridge.Ants were all over the bathroom sink so you didn't even leave out your make-up kit. The second bedroom was tiny..it would have never worked for adult guests. 2 tiny closets that were no more than wooden lockers. 2 small drawers in the masterbedroom. No drawer space in the 2nd bedroom. I don't know where you could have stored suitcases for 6 people which is what our unit is bedded for!Tiny bathroom with no storage. The beach was beautiful. You could walk forever! Buses stopped every few minutes and cost less than a $1. to get anywhere and were easy to ride...very safe.Great fresh bakery in the hotel grocery store.Pretty restaurant on site.Expensive poolside drinks..$7.00 margaritas! I would NOT stay here again.
