Description

Despite appearances, this is a youth hostel. The airy lobby has rose marble tiles, businessmen hold meetings in the lobby cafe and there is a landscaped courtyard with palm trees and a minimalist Japanese feel. The building doubles as the Culture and Education Centre of the World Union of Progressive Judaism, which means there are frequently concerts and tours that guests can participate in. The simply furnished rooms have stow-away bunk beds (the top bunk looks like a panel in the wall, but can be unfolded to change the sleeping capacity in the room from three to six).

Very Good Location
By ,
I stayed in Beit Schmuel on 3 occasions over 6 weeks. The hotel is nice and the hostel is more than adequate. The real benefit is the location. This property is in the shadow of the David Citadel. For a fraction of the price, the accommodations are very good. Staff is efficient food very good.

Wanted to stay longer
By ,
I stayed here with my son in 1973, just for 2 nights. I was so pleasantly surprised when I saw th building - it was charming. And the inside was also delightful. It was hard to imagine that this beautiful facility was a YOUTH HOSTEL! An extremely pleasant place to stay - the staff were delightful too.I would have liked to stay there longer. The view from our room onto the David Citadel was captivating.
