Hotel Caribeño, Santo Domingo

I live in the DR, but far away from Santo Domingo. I almost always stay at the Hotel Caribeno when I go to Sto.Dmgo. It is located in a rather dangerous part of the city, and I would NEVER walk outside at night. There are taxis available 24/7. It is also conveniently located for the bus depot which I use in my travels to and from my home. The employees are super: friendly, efficient, helpful. The restaurant is very good, except that the menu hasn't changed in 20 years, I'm told, and I am a little tired of their selections. The rooms tend to be a little small, but suffient for myself and my daughter, and include refrigerators and air conditioning, and a few cable channels in English. There is a pool, without a shallow end. The blurb says that room service is available 24 hours each day, but that has not been my experience. (However, it has now been almost 6 months since the last time I visited. The room prices are reasonable.
