Description

Conveniently located downtown on Richards Street, Kingston Hotel looks and feels more like a European villa than a reasonably priced hotel. If you are backpacking, or are just budget-conscious but still want to treat yourself to a hotel stay, then aim for this four-story hotel. Its no-frills approach does not detract from its cleanliness and friendly service. Rooms range from well-appointed European style rooms to en-suite twin rooms with all hotel amenities. Given the free continental breakfast and convenient location, it is a bargain.

Comfortable, excellent value
By Jim, 6/18/12
Great location for walking around town. Staff was helpful in recommending reasonably priced restaurants with good food. Surprisingly quiet at night. Yes, the rooms are cozy. Sharing a bathroom was no problem, even on a weekend when the hotel was busy.

Comfortable, small hotel with a great location
By Richard, 8/22/09
Nice comfortable little hotel, a pleasant, economical alternative to the big chains. I chose a room with a private bath rather than a shared bathroom down the hall. The room was clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and very helpful in giving directions and travel tips. A simple continental breakfast was served daily in a pleasant and comfortable breakfast room. (They might try serving some danishes though.) Great location: within walking distance to the downtown business area, Gastown, and many restaurants on Robson Street. Close to many bus lines that are part of Vancouver's superior transit system. I would definitely stay at the Kingston again and would recommend it to friends.

Disgraceful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/20/07
I would never go back!!!! We booked at Hotel Vancouver for 8 nights last September only our plans changed so I emailed to change the reservation to one night instead of eight. Apparently they didnt get my email so not only did they cancel our entire reservation, they charged us a cancellation fee. When we arrived for the 1 night luckily they had one of the cheaper rooms for us to stay in but to this day have refused to refund the cancellation fee - even when I sent them the email I sent changing the reservation. Their email address obviously had some kind of fault but I was charged $160 USD!!!!!!!! As for the stay itself, the decor was dated, the breakfast was meagre in the extreme. I would recommend staying in a short stay rented apartment as it is MUCH better and cheaper too. Beware!

Not recommended
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/10/07
The hotel is old and the rooms are not very confortable. The breakfast is really bad, and the service too. For exemple, when I left I forgot my Ray-Ban sunglasses at the hotel's reception desk. I phoned from the airport and they told me that they had it and they would send them me by mail. Six months later, I do not have my glasses, and they do not answer to my mails. I recommend everybody to look for other different hotels when travelling to Vancouver. Finally, I just want to mention that I have found many more very bad reports on this hotel.

Probably the best budget option
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/19/05
I really liked the Kingston hotel. It's has a great location, really downtown and is not that expensive. We first stayed in a lodge on east pender streat. now that was REALLY cheap but also REALLY crappy, and then i am not even mentioning the neighbourhood it was in :S!! The kingston does offer value for money, perhaps even more value than your money would normally buy. If you are on a budget the kingston is certainly affordable. Of course it is not like the Marriot or Hilton or Best Western, but there is nothing wrong it. it is very clean, safe and nice! To conclude, Business people should not go here, they might need more, but everyone just visiting vancouver and looking for a nice place to stay at a very reasonable price.... The kingston hotel is what you are looking for!
