Banff Alpine Center, Banff

As a seasoned traveller quite familiar with hostels, I was completely impressed with this one. Location was great - to feel completely at peace with nature and able to see the magnificent display of stars at night...who would want to be closer to town? Rooms/baths/beds were basic but fine, and clean. Accomodations are part of the experience of travel and extend beyond the aforementioned. Meeting fellow travellers, sharing experiences, connecting with the natural surroundings and promoting peace and good will is part of my travels. I have a great bed at home, but not the opportunity to connect with people of other cultures and views. This place offered much opportunity to do this. So, I always wonder... why stay in an expensive hotel and be disconnected? The staff here were excellent. Friendly, helpful, resourceful and attentive. They really worked hard and were always nice. The only caveat is that food service was a bit slower than might be expected. Just plan accordingly. I would absolutely come back here again.
