Will not go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/6/10
The staff was pretty nice, and the breakfast was ok, but those are really the only positive things I have to say about the place. I stayed in a private room and for the price I was paying, I was expecting something MUCH nicer. I would have much rather spent my money on a hotel. I thought the bathrooms were pretty gross and always very crowded. The door in the hallway was slamming all night from people opening and closing it. It kept me up practically all night. Also, there was a group of young visitors staying across the hall from me. They were VERY loud and nothing was done about it. Needless to say I did not have a good nights sleep the 3 nights I was there. This was my first experience staying in a hostel, and I will say confidently that it will be my last. They didn't even have parking for your cars. We had to park on the street which was a small fortune. Save your money and get a hotel room instead!! The best part of my experience there was being able to leave!

The best location, ever!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 1/23/10
I would like to begin by saying that I had a wonderful stay during my time at HI-D.C. To begin with, the facility has a wonderful location. It’s located just a short distance from the White House and just a few blocks from the blue metro line which will take you to all of the major attractions in the city. Or, if like me you like to walk, you can just walk a short distance to all of the attractions from the hostel. Second, the hostel staff was really nice and the facility is also secure. Your stay also includes a delicious and wonderful continental breakfast each morning. There is also a wonderful opportunity to meet others in the downstairs lobby area where you can also use the Internet. I would very much suggest staying here during your stay in Washington, D.C. The location can’t be beat for this price.

Decent place downton
By Brooke, 6/30/08
This was a decent enough hostel. There is a kitchen and dining room with brewed coffee in the mornings. The coffee is all right, but the sugar ran out and no-one seemed to know where to find more. The staff at the front desk changed a bit in my three days, but they were always friendly and willing to help out. The hostel is pretty close to the White House...about 8 blocks or so. It's about 3 blocks from the metro. It's easy to either walk to the monuments and National Mall or to figure out how to use the metro to get around. Overall this place was fine and I'd stay again. My only complaint is that there isn't much cheap food at night. There are a bunch of cute cafes and places that serve lunch, but once dinner rolls around most nearby places look kind of fancy. There is a McDonalds and sandwhich place nearby though. Like I said, that's only a minor complaint. If I ever stay again I'll do some grocery shopping so that I can cook my own dinner.

Great Location & Freebies
By M, 4/29/08
Very near all the daytime sites, but a bit far from the hip bars. Lots of free extras: really cool tours, WiFi, pool table, lockers (bring your own lock).

It was ok
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/24/07
This was my first experience staying at the hostel. Therefore, I was quite worried. The hostel was ok, not that bad as I expected. It is located in the center of the city, three blocks from the Metro Station. I stayed there one night and did not use all the facilities. I came in the evening and received the number of the bed where I would sleep. They have two-layer wooden beds and they make noises. I would suggest they improve their beds somehow. They give you sheets and a towel. The women's bathroom and shower are quite clean. There are 8-10 people in the room. I left my suitcase in the locker room (you pay 4 dollars for that). However, they do not guarantee the safety of your stuff. There was an air-conditioner in the room and it made terrible noise. In general, it is an ok hostel I think.
