Our Perfect Place

Having visited 5 times now, we feel very much at home in the cabin at White Bird Ranch. It is very rustic: if you need air conditioning or stores, or if the wildlife outside and the babbling brook will keep you awake, it's not for you. If you like beauty and wilderness and prefer a comfy bed, a full kitchen, a fireplace, and a shower to a tent, this is for you. Sallye is a wonderful hostess; she knows everybody and is always willing to share. The llamas are a lot of fun and be sure to see Henry the rooster jump for treats. A typical walk down the road in the evening will include mule deer, and elk, and often a moose. The fishing is good, be it wading the small streams or floating the West Fork or the main Bitterroot River. Uncrowded hiking trails abound, and you are close to the Selway-Bitterroot wilderness across the pass in Idaho. For us it is the perfect civilized wilderness vacation.
