OWNER DOESN'T KNOW WHAT HE IS DOING!!!!!

The Landmark Inn is just the latest venture by owner who doesn't have a clue about how to run a business. Just ask the employees who work there. They are often left to deal with difficult situations but do not have the authority to rectify many problems. It all comes back to the owner who is so busy "working" that he has time to devote to his primary source of income. For example, the wife says that Mr. Henderson "is not a businessman, he is an entrepreneur. You have to understand that he is not interested in the money. That is not what drives him." Huh??? What is the world is that supposed to mean? Unfortunately, Mr. Henderson is rarely seen at his business and taking care of the multiple maintenance issues that need his attention. For example, never let the front desk talk you into taking a downstairs room at their Bed and Breakfast facility. The rooms there have major mold/mildew problems and smell horribly. The heating/cooling in that building is hard to regulate so you will either freeze or roast. The building also has security issues. It is possible to gain entrance to the downstairs room w/kitchenette by using a flathead screwdriver, popping open the outside door to the boiler room, and then pulling the door knob to the room. Although the know may not turn, it does not mean that the door is locked. When building the main motel facility, the owner took a lot of shortcuts. For example, the internet system is pretty low budget and seems to go off line fairly often and has a few "dead zones". This is because it is inadequate to accomodate such a building. The walls are paper thin and you can hear everything from the rooms around your. The owner is slow to fix routine maintenance issues (i.e. frozen pipes, broken doors, leaky toilets, and the list goes on and on and on . . . .). Mr. Henderson is also reluctant to take care of the landscaping at his property. To be kind, it doesn't look much better than a mowed field of dandylions and crab grass - Not too inviting and shows a lack of concern for the guest experience. Snow removal during the winter is another joke. Mr. Henderson will might show up (if he is not too busy) after the walks are thoroughly iced over from the vehicle or foot traffic. A good slip and fall are just a disaster waiting to happen. Mr. Henderson has also a few of regular clients leave for better pastures and he has made no effort to find out why or what could be done to regain their business. Like I said before, he is an "Entrepreneur who is not interested in business and making a profit," Having said all the above, the employees are pleasant and do their best to do what they can, but they are severly hamstrung by the lack of support or interest by their employer. They are generally quite friendly and helpful, but there is only so much they can do. My advice is take your business and stay at the Marriott Springhill Suites. The room prices are comparable and at least you are getting a known corporate name that has a good hotel rewards program. The lobby make look a little bit space-age, but at least you know what you are getting with the Marriott brand. Can't say the same for the little mom/pop Landmark Inn.
