Do not stay here!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/26/09
This Hotel is very "unkept" and in need of repairs. Rust in the sink, the sink drain would not open, the front door hinge was broken so the rusty rod used to lock the door would not latch. There was an electical outlet cover missing. The tiny refrigerator needed defrosting and was leaking on the floor. The cover on the smoke alarm was missing. The bottom of one of the dresser draws was missing. The fan in the bathroom did nothing as it was probably clogged. The ice machine downstairs was broken and we were told to go to the Subway Shop to get ice. No inspection or phone in the elevator. SOMETHING TO REMEMBER: If a hotel will not take a credit card an insists on a check for a down payment on a reservation most times the hotel is so bad, people check out the first day. But because the hotel has your check and probably already cashed it, they will not loose their deposit when you don't stay. If you had paid the reservation with a Credit Card, you could stop payment easier than the check. Do yourself a favor and find somewhere else to stay.

Beach Blast Fun
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/01/08
We stayed at the Newport resort for beach blast 2008, and we had a blast. Our soccer club booked a bunch of rooms through the courtious hotel manager who was very accomadating to all our needs. We needed over ten rooms!! The rooms are fine for the weekend and the atmosphere and location are great. The view of the beach and the WILDWOODS sign was a highlight. The kids had a blast and nobody from the hotel bothered them when they where loud and having a good time. We will be back next year with more teams and families and we will have no problem staying here again.

DISGUSTING
This hotel was a disaster. A switchplate was dangling from the wall, has a u-hook for the lock to balcony, cable wire was hanging from wall, rust all around the bathroom sink, someone's urine and toilet paper in toilet, paint peeling off vents. We had a 2 year old child with us which was very unsafe conditions. It was unsafe for any child or adult to stay at this hotel.

It's Wildwood!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/28/07
First and foremost...this is Wildwood New Jersey not an Aruba resort! The reviews are unfair for this motel, because it is a family owned motel (like almost all of Wildwoods motels) that is simple and clean. If one expects a room directly on the beach it is not truly available. No matter where you stay the walk to the beach is far, the rooms are pretty small and the boardwalk will be the major highlight. We have stayed in many hotels on the Jersey shore this one is similiar to all of them. You are a small way from the boardwalk. The pool was decent for a dip and the kids loved that it went deep as 7 foot. Trust me you will not find a beautiful room or a luxury resort easy in this area, if at all. This motel was clean, conveniently located and provided a decent night sleep for our family to be able to enjoy the day at the beach and the night on the boardwalk. Take the trip with the open mind that it is Wildwood New Jersey, a family spot -not a romantic all inclusive trip for the rich and famous. I strongly suggest Russo's italian which is four block's away for dinner. Enjoy your family time and disregard the negative reviews and give it a chance.

Don't stay here!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/17/07
This hotel was disgusting! When we got into our room it was filthy--there was food crumbs on the floor, soap chunks and hair in the tub and mouse droppings in the bathroom. We called the owner, after being there only 1/2 an hour to say that it was unsanitary and he promised to refund our money--however the next morning when we stopped by to get the refund he refused. Not a reputable place---there are plenty of places to choose from, don't choose this one!!

disapointed with the overall condition
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/07
I stayed at this hotel many years ago, unfortunately nothing has changed. The elevator is the biggest worry, it is old, no sign of inspection, no phone in the elevator. we came back from a 4 hour walk up the boardwalk to find the elevator out of order. not pleasant walking up to the 5th floor we are not young and it was a problem for us to climb the 5 flights of stairs. the place needs to be upgraded to reflect the charge for the rooms which are overpriced for the condition of the hotel. the towels were extreamly thin, as a matter of fact the towel were torn with holes. It was always a great place to spend your vacation but unfortunately it needs serious upgrades to compete with the other hotels. Maybe having the internet would be a plus

Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/18/07
We were very disappointed in our choice of motels during our first family trip to NJ. The website made it seem bigger, cleaner and closer to the ocean. The walk to the ocean is at least a half mile and the view is completely obstructed by construction which begins at an early 6 am. The kiddie pool is only big enough for 2 kids at a time and the rest of the pool is quite small as well. As for the room, well, it definately needs repainting and there are no screens so you cannot leave the window or the patio door open unless you want seagulls and bugs everywhere. The bathroom is tiny, there is no coffee maker and you have to unplug the tv to operate the microwave. Also, bring your own pillows...theirs are as thin as potato chips!

and another thing
By DM, 05/14/07
Sorry to say, this motel was like staying at the Bates Motel... I would never pay to stay there again. They must collect the money and never upgrade anything. Disgusting.

Happy Return Customer
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/10/07
I found this place by chance searching for a motel last year. I needed the conveinence of the elevator & the 2 room suite with kitchenette. Upon arrival I was pleasantly suprised. The room was clean & bright. I looked & found no evidence of bed bugs. Although the ocean is a hard veiw from the hotel that is hardly the fault of the hotel. You can't see the ocean from the boardwalk either. The staff was helpful & non intrusive, as we did not want the room cleaned everyday we were there. The pool was clean & efficent for cooling off, deep enough for a large man to jump in. The balcony was private & provided a cool breeze and a quiet way to enjoy the boardwalk lights & atmosphere without the noise of the boardwalk & it's foot traffic, yet easy to Tramcar access. Parking was limited but that's a problem for Wildwood hotels generally. We enjoyed our stay fully and have rebooked for '07.

Grimey!!!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/01/07
It was so disgusting. There were bed bugs and the room was dusty and not very clean. the bathroom was not very clean. There was a cockroach in one of the bathrooms. I stayed there for a drumline competition and all of us felt that it was an awful place to stay therefore we now stay at the starlux. But, the location is great. If only the upkeep was better.
